India to set up World’s Largest Floating Solar Power Plant in Kerela

you missed 'hosur'..its already a satellite town of Bangalore(though its in Tamilnadu)..
bidar and ramnagara haven't developed much yet..both looks like an average 'halli'..

I didn't miss it, just that this discussion centered round Karnataka putting all its eggs in the Bangalore basket.

Yeah, sorry about that assumption made by me. s you can tell, don't now much about Karnataka :)

No need to be sorry (never found your posts to be bereft of sense), I was actually referring to @abjktu

Your point on all of Karnataka's eggs being in the Bangalore basket is absolutely valid, just that there is no easy solution to that.

Kudos to ppl who come up with such great ideas and those who commission it.:yahoo:

Though I still have a doubt, a state like kerala gets rains for almost 6 months of an year so will this floating powerplant give tangible results?
Monsoons reduce the efficiency of solar panles is a known fact.

I wonder if they could apply a solution to the solar glass that slides water right off? The US army uses a oil like solution derived from ducks and its applied on their binoculars. This was yrs ago,,,,im sure tech has upgraded considerably.

We mallus wont allow such projects to start...... We will find ways to opposite it....... Solar panel over water???? The fate of this project is going to be same of " Sea plane:

I can already see Fisherman Union, water Union, other BS Unions coming in the way demanding their cut!

Actually, if you take UA, perhaps we have Kochi with a million plus population?
Kochi metropolitan area - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
besides, just 4-5kms out of CBD, all other parts of the cities are divided into various municipalities(Kalamassery, Thrikkakkara, Thripunithura etc) which is a dampener. TVM Lobby is always against the city. that makes it more hard for Kerala's ruling parties to give a concentrated effort to grow Kochi city. as of 2014, Kochi is still suffering with no bypass flyovers built neither adequate infrastructure. Kerala government still gives Kochin a step motherly treatment(Kochi contributes 40% or so of the revenue to state Khajana). love is always for Trivandrum, a city sustained by government employees, for the employees, by the employees(and their kids).

Oh yes, if you consider the UA areas, the population will easily cross the million mark. But that way, Bangalore's population will easily cross the 10 million mark as well. :frown:

We (read commies) were the people who opposed computer saying it reduces the job opportunity....

Well Mallus are most rated workers out side kerala...... Inside kerala, we are aware about our rights, but we forget our duties...
How much Nokku Kooli do they pay for this project and for each MW generated everyday? :D
