India to seek international recognition for Hasina’s government

Ittefaq Report

India has decided to lead the efforts made towards soliciting international recognition for Sheikh Hasina’s new government. Sources at South Bloc said India will hold discussions with powerful countries and international forums to dissuade them from enforcing any sanctions on Bangladesh in view of the one-sided election held yesterday.

Many western countries, especially US said this election lacks credibility. A few higher-ups at Washington believe Sheikh Hasina could have accepted the opposition’s demand and resigned in the interest of democracy. Sources said US may decide not to recognise the government that will be formed soon. Such measures have already been discussed in meetings with South Bloc.

Sources said India and US harbour different opinions about Jamaat-e-Islami-one of the key partners of the BNP led 18-party coalition that made up the opposition. US views Jamaat favourably while India doesn’t. India fears Jamaat’s mere existence is a threat for India’s and Bangladesh’s security. India believes the secular AL government has managed to curb militancy and fundamentalism by a great extent in this region.

The Delhi government will try to solicit Commonwealth’s approval after the election. India at present is a member of Commonwealth Ministerial Action group. India will fight Bangladesh on this as well as other possible fronts.

Why was a caretaker government not put in place before the elections, as is the norm? BD would then have not descended into chaos.

But then perhaps vested interests didn't want to take the risk of a free and fair election for fear of losing out to the BNP which needless to say is full of militant fundamentalist organizations which is bad for the country and its neighbors.

No doubt it is a farce of an election with opposition parties boycotting. l see troubling times ahead for BD.

Apart from the farcical display of democracy by both India and the Awami league cabal, the real danger has been posted by Mr. sarthak.

Indian establishment might have to pay a heavy price in the end.

some random questions

1-how credible is this site........bcoz i didnt find such news in any other site or newspaper

2-is India seeking the recognition or is it the congress party bcoz after 3 months we are having general elections and congress is most likely to lose

3-how do the bangldeshi's see nda govt

If it wasn't for U.S in 1996 Hasina wouldn't have gotten into power through the second election which BNP was vehemently opposing.

whats with AL and fascism ?

Very short sighted decision. Never keep all your eggs in one basket. Someday eventually , BNP is going to come to power and then relations with BD will nosedive. The least we can do is disassociate ourselves from this affair

Too late, finally the cat is out of the bag.

The left leaning intellectual class is having serious doubts in Hasina's integrity. Commie like Forhad Mazhar is calling it farce. The Daily Star, which the PDF Indians respects as holy grail asked not to hold the election

Hasina is Awami League. When she is gone then there is no one else like her. Her kid can't even speak Bangla properly.
