India to replace bursting tank barrels under Rs 1,500 cr deal

.
SURE......as if u are really helping out here

help your self and do some research before posting garbage. Do research on how technology has been develope in US and russia. How much funding went in each program, how many iterations were involved (ex f16 program) to create a truly world class weapon. People like you think creating a true world class weapon is just swinging the magic wand. They dont understand how much catch up India needs to do in many areas.

Have you ever given a thought to why DRDO is so successful with the missile development? DRDO developed prithvi missile that was below world class, but it was inducted in the armed forces and the only reason for induction was that IA didnt have any import option. If they had an option, they would have easily scuttled its development. After the induction, based on user feed back and its own learning, DRDO came up with many tech iterations and tech improvements that has resulted into what we have today in the form of Agni, shourya. Prahaar etc., which are world class.

Now, same could be done with INSAS, ARJUN, Tejas etc, but some corrupt IA and IAF ppl sitting at the top are only interested in securing their retirement. IAF, IA evaluate indigenous weapons infinite times and delay the process, but when it comes to foreign maal, dont even care to test in india.

Again creating a true world class weapon is not swinging a magic wand, but an iterative process that requires huge amount of funds and a long time period when you are a late starter.

Yes

Project Valiant was complete failure while Project Devil was partial success

GOI, if I am accurate, has poured in vast amount of money when IGMDP is concerned

This continuous development eventually led to Prithvi I and Agni TD

To realise how much progress India has achieved in BM field, lets compare Agni-TD with Agni-5

Agni-TD weigh 50 tons, with 1 ton payload and range of 900 KM

Agni 5 weigh 50 tons, carry 1.2 ton payload but its range is 5,000 KM

This was only possible because DRDO kept building on earlier development

Thing is simple, if mark 1 product is below expectation, still accept it and keep developing its newer versions with better performance and fix its glitches

Even F 16 was criticized in 1980s for glitches and now see where it is

Even is ToT is given one must take permission from parent country to produce more and integrate it to another system and pay royalty for it.

The barrel bursting phenomenon was actually because of the new explosive charge in the ammo. These people did not take into account the older barrels used in the T 72s.

Who knows cvrde or drdo is using substandard materials for production like in case of mig-21 engines!!

. . .

Well I have been analysing things almost for 15 years and this is bull crap. India built only the fuel pumps for the MiG 21 engines and the RD 33 MK engines and the AL 31 engines. They never built the Tumansky engines. These are really old engines that we are using and the production has stopped a long time back.

But its not about building engines....its about repair too and the lax attitude of HAL ppl to get more bonus!!!

. .
WTF.. What happened to Tank Ex, I thought this will be the logical next step.

Tank EX - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Can anyone please help me understand why this is not getting done.

It offers no advantage whatsoever on t-90 and whats the need to simultaneously work of 2-3 diff tanks??

http://hal-india.com/EngineKoraput/products.asp

according to hal site they indeed manufacture(d) that engine or atleast components of that

You cant manufacture parts for stuff which the OEM has stopped manufacturing a decade ago. The guys in HAL have just been reverse engineering those parts. And we all know what reverse engineered goods quality is like.
