India to reject global arms trade treaty

Unfortunately for India, there's not much they can do about it. Military exporting countries always hold the upper hand and treaties like these are always intended to strengthen their monopoly.

When you rely on other countries for your security, you effectively become a vassal state. This kind of pseudo-imperialism is something the US and Europe have knowingly partaken in for the last century or so and China did so for millenia before that. The only difference between China's old tributary system where smaller vassal states have to donate goods, treasures, slaves and women, etc., is that the West expect you to take their worthless paper funny money, they can print off at will, in exchange for real goods and commodities that your citizens have to work tirelessly to produce. Those that look to opt out of this tributary system, like Iraq and Libya tried to, get their *** kicked by the West's enforcement team, i.e. NATO.

Maybe this treaty is something that will give India's leaders a kick up the backside and realise they have to spend more on R&D and military indigenization as opposed to taking the easy route of buying other countries' war toys.
