India to Deploy Two Ballistic Missile Defense Systems Near Pakistan Border
Prithvi Defence Vehicle (PDV) is capable of terminating an incoming missile with a strike range of around 2,000 km outside the earth’s atmosphere (Exo-Atmospheric)

The ballistic missile defence grid that will protect the western and northern regions of the country will help guard New Delhi and Mumbai

New Delhi — India has decided to install its homemade ballistic missile defence systems at two villages in the western state of Rajasthan. The villages in Alwar and Pali are both less than 800 kilometres from the Pakistani capital Islamabad.

The counter attack missiles will be able to provide double layered security with the capacity to shoot down enemy missiles both within the earth's atmosphere (Endo-atmospheric) and outside it (Exo-atmospheric). State owned Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) had conceived the program in 1999 and since then, the programme has witnessed many trials and upgrades.

The ready version consists of long-range tracking radar developed in partnership with Israeli company Elta. The second component is a computerised command and control system that plots and predicts the intruding missile's flight path and assigns interceptor missiles to destroy it. The third component is the interceptor missiles and includes the Endo-atmospheric missile can intercept incoming targets at an altitude of 15 to 25 kilometres and the Exo-atmospheric missile can kill an incoming ballistic missile within the range of 2000 km. DRDO has claimed that the strike range of the exo-atmospheric missile is being upgraded to 5000 km.

Some more tests will be conducted in the coming months before the system is commissioned into the Indian armed forces. The latest successful tests of the Endo-atmospheric as well as Exo-atmospheric interceptor missiles were conducted in March this year.

"The complete event including the engagement and destruction was tracked by a number of Electro-optical tracking systems using infrared imagery. The launch has proved the Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) prowess of the country," DRDO had claimed on March 1 this year.
With this capability, India has now entered the elite league of nations having this capability. The other four countries are US, Russia, Israel and France.
India's decision to install the advance ballistic missile system near its border with Pakistan stems from the fact that the two nuclear-armed neighbours are engaged in a prolonged territorial dispute and have gone to war three times after their partition in 1947.

That is great, the stupid press should release the GPS locations as well.. for fk sakes these idiots are the cause of embarrassment..

I am skeptical as to how good ABMs are -infact only count on 33%-50% max efficiency if US tests are any indicator(though keep in mind US tests against ICBM types which Pak doesnt have, however US technology is better than us - so both positive and negative in that example). So for each enemy ballistic missile to be safe you need 2-3.

An advantage for us is because of very short distance and pakistan's lack of strategic depth, our forward deployed ballistic interceptors can catch pak ballistic missiles potentially when they are most vulnerable and easiest to shoot down - during the take off and immediate period after that. This advantage however will not work against china, nor do i think these interceptors are mature enough to down ICBMs.IRBMs are the limit i think.

DRDO has claimed that the strike range of the exo-atmospheric missile is being upgraded to 5000 km.

Now this is great news
That means, for missiles with a range of 5000km

Are bhai did anything good came out of DRDO babus?
After some time army will complain it's not working or it's not good and not reliable system how can feku modi put his country men life in this stupidity.
These is only feel good for bhakto.

This a decades old project. Should see the S400, Israeli radar and others in the same picture. Guess India is going for, by my counts, 3 or 4 tier defense system.

If one fails, others take over.

Simple solution nuke these villages with Ra'ad and Babur C.M and then launch other ballistic missiles to desired targets. But wait when last time Indian forces able to induct any DRDO's product.

Another day another brain fart by Indian media.
