It really is not, you need to put it in perspective.

You have a 1.2 million man Army and just 11 C-17s and 17 IL-76 Transport plane in Heavy catagory.
12 C-130s and 80 AN-32s in Medium catagory.

US Army is 500,000 men

USAF has 270 C-17/C5 in heavy role and 240 C-130s in medium role

UK Army is 100,00 men

RAF has 30 C-17/A400M in Heavy role and 32 A330/C-130 in medium role

Australia Army has 30,000 men

RAAF has 8 C-17s in heavy role and 22 C-130s/C-27s in medium role

India's transport capacity is big, but relative to it's armed forces it is tiny.
Our troop deployment is primarily focused on two fronts both having accessible land borders. The primary garrisons are also close to these areas which wouldn't necessarily require airlifting all these troops

If that the case than that means its a typo. There's no way price difference could be that much.
License production and a potential for building more aircraft in the long run. We don't have any active DRDO run program for a medium lift aircraft. We did have the MTA program a while ago but that didn't go through

Also, the support will be handled by TASL while Airbus will directly handle Canadian aircrafts

AND how DO YOU move YOUR 600,000 troops in pakistan

You have barely one fifth of indian logistics muscle

What is current state of Saras ?

They have been "buying" these planes for the last 4 years. No contract signed just "cabinet approval". Imran Khan can "approve" us buying 36 J-20s, does not make it happen......

RUBBISH

C17 chinooks IL76 have moved 50,000 troops in full artic gear in 6 weeks

This is why no one takes you seriously and we enjoy baiting you and laughing. Look at map of Pakistan. Most of the army is already forward deployed by Indian border. We do not need a C-17 to take us from Lahore to Wagah....

No, the moved supplied, most of the troops were by road. You do not even know how your armed forces work, also 50k were not moved, many were already in place.
YE LOG APNI DUNYA MAIN REHTY HAIN

other hand china every week getting closer to usa

Guys do not even have a fully deployable Parachute Brigade and our dhoti wearing friend thinks they have a version of 82nd Airborne......

I dont understand with how many scientist, engineers, and smart people India has and all the $$$ they have spent over the last decade on their military (600+bn) why they dont even have a decent domestic arms industry?

Even 10% that $$$ could have been used to develop what is purchased abroad at a much much cheaper rate due to the low cost of labour.

Indians do not believe in spending money on R&D.

are the Indians really that stupid ?

they cant build medium sized Cargo

its almost as if India has a domestic programme to please the population

then they buy from abroad because they know their own stuff is so rubbish

and this is true for almost every piece of equipment they operate

Had MTA programme for medium transport plane with Russian help, went nowhere after 10 years.....

you fool
how you going supply 600000 men.with arms spares, food or evacuate wooded in a,war state

oh sorry I forgot you disown them and allow them.to rot on the.borders .

logistics is about rapid deployment in bulk you can't do that in trucks or in your case in vans.

ps pakistan is not a small.country you need logistics you just can't afford 300.million dollars,c17 that's all..

and please don't compare India to usa they have 7 times, our GDP and spend 12 times our 60 billion budget on defense

and do you think most of Indian Army is sitting in Tamil Nadu?? We're also forward deployed with majority of our troops deployed closer to regions bordering pakistan & china

Even are command HQs' are located in cities close to the border

Northern Command: Udhampur (J&K)
Eastern Command: Kolkata (WB)
Western Command: Chandimandir (Haryana)
Central Command: Lucknow (UP)
Southern Command: Pune (Maharashtra)

After making the necessary design changes in Mk-2, NAL has conducted 2 test flights in 2020 and both proved to be successful and have met all the designated parameters. Some optimizations are to be done while more test flights are scheduled for this year. NAL has stated that the design for production variant is expected to be frozen this year.

Major assemblies will be outsourced to Indian private sector with HAL acting as the lead integrator for the military variant. The civilian variant will be entirely produced by the private sector

I don't think it's even needed to fly this many soldiers lol
You do know foot soldiers are the least priority and gov hate spending on them.
Most soldiers should have gone through srinagar road route as majority of them are deployed there. Or in north.
Only essential cargo or Major generals must have been airlifted. air transportation is very costly per soldier , as compared to road.

nobody needs to justify this purchase decision .

India takes logistics seriously and spends money to make them adequate for our needs.

comparing to usa or Australia which has no borders is a expedition military designed to support usa anywhere globally is laughable. we showcased our logistics last year and it works
