India threatens BBC over rapist interview

Is the mass who is going to watch this documentary has enough wisdom to comprehend the real meaning / idea behind this documentary? I have seen where the context is totally lost. Look at the news around, they are just talking about just 1 -r 2 quotes of the rapist about the documentary and sensationalizing it. They are not channelizing their energy on the actual motive. even main stream media is just talking about those two sentences and the words used in them.

The actual problem is not the sentence making skills of the rapist or the lawyer or xyz but the environment which has given the scope for these kind of ideas to creep into the mind of them. it is the provocation or the breeding ground of these ideas /mindset which needs to be controlled rather than the crime. Once the breeding ground is cleansed, the crime will be controlled automatically.

@samv
Did you know what is this channel four?
A few years they made an allegation against SL about the killing of Prabhakarans son ?Did you forget that?

On topic:If they violated our laws they should be punished.
Of course we unleashed a hell.of the protests against these incident .But that was only for our social change and society.
This is not an opportunity for some foreigners to defame us.
Thats no argument. We shud be more focused on eradicating our social evils rather than who is defaming us. ITs similar to Pakistan who say RAW is responsible for all the attacks in there but never talk bout eradicating extrimism.

U want us to follow the same path by putting all blame on foreigners. If there is no evil there will be no defaming.

Do remember, here its not bout the rape but bout the mentality of a particular but large section of society. If there is a chance of any misunderstanding by outsiders its our job to communicate.

really??they made one heck of chaos when the student was named mistakenly.

the main reason of controversy is,they published it with the "Improper comments of the Rapists" and publishing it all over world.Don't know why they didn't make a documentary of the nation wide protests that took place after the incident or,similar events happening even in their country.instead of this, they're publishing the Interview of the Rapists.Damn, media this days..I remember Dhananjoy Chatterjee, who was sentenced to death and was carried out in 2004.Indian Media nearly made a national hero out of him,was posting every minutes update..some even argued for his release.Glorious(Sic) chapter of "Bengali Media"..

Hello their parents are appearing in all media shows asking for Justice why be hypocritical and hide India's worst keept secrets. Some of US & UK's best anti-rape laws have been named after the victim itself and the parents have been pround about it. These laws have saved 1000 of others

What is Sarah's Law? Background to the nationwide scheme - ITV News

A total of 708 disclosures of paedophiles have been made across England and Wales, and Scotland, since powers under Sarah's Law were rolled out nationwide. Sarah's Law - or the child sex offender disclosure scheme - allows parents, carers and guardians to formally ask the police to tell them if someone has a record for child sexual offences.

The Home Office developed the scheme to protect children.

Here are some key questions and answers surrounding Sarah's Law:

:: What is the background to the scheme?

It was developed in consultation with Sara Payne, whose eight-year-old daughter Sarah was murdered by a convicted paedophile.

Sarah, who lived in Hersham, Surrey, disappeared on the evening of July 1 2000 from a cornfield near the home of her paternal grandparents, Terence and Lesley Payne, in Kingston Gorse, West Sussex.

A body was found on July 17 2000 in a field near Pulborough, some 15 miles from Kingston Gorse where she had disappeared. It was confirmed as Sarah.

Roy Whiting was convicted of the abduction and murder of Sarah on December 12 2001 and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Whiting had previously abducted and sexually assaulted an eight-year-old girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, and was sentenced to four years in prison.

Ms Payne campaigned in support of bringing in a scheme similar to Megan's Law in the US, which allows every parent in the country to know if dangeous offenders are living in their area.

their family made some rakcus after she was accidentally named.also they demanded the law to be named after her if they publicly discloser her name.I'd say it is a sign of cheap mentality.whatever....

I didn't watch the documentary.but if they covered the whole incident,I'd not have any problem.but taking Crminal's sensational interview and giving it "India's Daughter" name,it simply can't be supported.India made a vow that they're not going to make money out of these type of cases(Movies/Documentaries on incidents like 26/11 or Nirbhaya Case).tens of thousands people gathered, showed protest, clashed with security force for this very incident.whole country supported it.The Criminals are about to get their punishment.and all of a sudden, some random documntary comes up on similar topic, without editing some sic comments.what would be intentions about it???

I remember,National geographic made documentary on 26/11 on which we declared,we were never going to make movies/documentaries.they neither understand people's view, nor their emotion about these incidents.its not a hollywood drama, its people's lives we're talking about.and about this case,we're talking about our country.they'd better off,if they reported similar incidents happening in Britain itself.

Outrage Over Defence Lawyers' Comments in Nirbhaya Documentary

The mother of the student today asked, "Why can't the government take action against lawyers who talk about my daughter like that?"

In the film Mr Sharma has at one point said that there is no place for women in Indian culture. Both AK Singh and he make other outrageous comments too.

Senior Supreme Court advocate KTS Tulsi demanded that their licences be suspended. "Shows complete absence of any concern for society. There can't be any justification. A person with this kind of mindset is still a lawyer. It is much more than a crime. The bar council must take cognisance," he said.

Raju Ramachandran, Former Additional Solicitor General of India, said, "They can defend their clients inside court but can't speak like this outside court. The Bar council shouldn't wait for any complaint and should take suo motu action."

WHAT ARE YOU SMOKING? DID YOU READ THE ARTICLE? THE LEGAL COMMUNITY WANT THESE TWO RAPIST LAWYERS TO BE DISBARRED! ONLY THANKS TO DOCUMENTARY. NOW READ WHAT THE FATHER SAYS BUT IF YOU HAVE THE SAME MINDSET AS THE LAWYERS AND THE RAPIST YOU WILL AVOID. LOOKING IN THE MIRROR IS ALWAYS THE HARDEST?

Ban wasn't needed. For truth to be known, filth has to come out, says Nirbhaya's father Badrinath Singh - The Economic Times

The documentary India's Daughter holds up a mirror to society, it tells us how bad our mindset is, how we look at our own children. But how many of us are willing to look in the mirror and see what's there?

I don't understand why the government wanted to ban it. It is possible that they were fearing outrage and people taking to the streets after the telecast of the documentary. It could be a law and order concern for them. But for the truth to be known, it is necessary that the filth comes out too. The documentary has the comments of lawyers and other eminent people in society. It is necessary that these voices are heard by people, so that the struggle that my daughter was part of continues.

How will we protect our daughters if we don't tell our sons what is wrong and should not be done? Isn't it time to admit that there are both good and bad people everywhere and that certain ways of thinking have led to the death of our daughters?

I heard what the rapist Mukesh Singh said in the documentary. He thinks that my daughter asked to be raped. It made me feel sad, but not angry. It disturbs me when people like him say it was the girl's fault that she was raped. But I have stop ..

Chettah what are trying to say?

The Western medias targeting of Asian Nations.

The GOI is making a fool out of itself... whats next? The only thing missing are hysterical comments like NK did.

Besides, these kinds of moves will only have one effect:

PR for the film... thus more viewers.

So whats so great about having a non functioning judiciary and executive system? Reminds me of some failed African "state" without a government.
