India third largest investor and generate more jobs in UK

i went to the link but to my disappointment it only mentioned india gov will spend 1t dollars over the next 5 years starting from 2012 but didn't specify where does the money come from. however, if you read that link it's actually asking US companies to invest in india which strengthen my point that india need FDI very much.

During his address Mr. Sharma pointed out that there is requirement for investment to bring about the Second Green Revolution in India and to develop the agro-processing and food processing sectors.
Apart from this, India will be spending around $ 1 trillion on the development of infrastructure in the next Five Year Plan beginning in 2012. There are many gaps in the infrastructure which present opportunities for investment, especially in energy, roads and power.
He also emphasized on the need to give strength to the ongoing technological collaboration between the two countries through institutional linkages and co-development of technologies. He also pointed out the opportunities available in India in the manufacturing sector, in pharmaceuticals, in research and development and in a number of other sectors.
The USIBC is the premier business advocacy organisation in the US committed to strengthening US-India commercial ties and deepening two-way trade between the two economies. It comprises 370 of the top US companies investing in India.

Actually I always found this Infrastructure fund raising quite interesting, 1 Trillion dollars is a staggering amount of money and in most countries Infrastructures are paid for by the government due to cost and with operation later privatized for efficiency.

Given the 1 trillion is being raised outside of India I assume it will be chopped into blocks and sold to banks and such as unit trust or SWF as investments which I have no doubt will have some investors since its something new and exciting. But I find it a rather risky investment given the lack of transparency, existing corruption and government support for land acquisition etc, (how will the money be spent?) I would be interested to know how much investments will be raised by 2017.

1 trillion dollars is already in the process of being spent. most investement in india in infrastructure is happening by the Public Private Partnership. for example huge number of highway and expressway contracts are bid upon by various companies/consortiums.
they construct the road and pay a annual fee to the government, and get a certain toll period. the bidding happens on the criteria of who can give the highest annual fee.

such methods are being used in developing ports, highway networks, expressways, canals, power plants, alternative energy, expressways, metros and monorails, airports, bridges etc

This is so wrong

The UK is the single largest investor in the US at $454 Billion, Japan is $361 Billion, Canada is $225B, Germany is $218B tiny Singapore is $23 Billion, UAE is $2.6 Billion. Taiwan is $4.2B and Hong Kong is $3.8B. The "Other in Asia Pacific" which includes India is $1.25 Billion. These are all 2009 figures, the latest available.

You are 110% Correct. I give you the prize. This report is expressly designed for Indians to have an orgasm with meaningless stats.
The original story is bs, here's why.

1. Number of projects is meaningless, it's the investment flow in pounds
2. Running total is also important, certainly more than the number of projects

Looking at 2000 to 2009 for FDI inward for the UK by Country. India is INSignificant to the UK.
India. France. US (millions of pounds)
2000 35. 31722. 12741
2008 2638. -2682. 18135
2009 126. 19542. 19126

Total from 2000 to 2009
India 3,379 million pounds
France 71,006 million pounds
USA. 115,696 million pounds

Look, their bs skills are second to none. US Treasury and HM Treasury publishes these numbers. Indians can't bs around them, but they try anyway.

I think the present thread is about total investments in 2011..How can you say that is wrong by bringing up data of total incestments between 2000-2009?
