What's new

India test fires hypersonic missile.

Well I meant mentally stable, not politically. Stable leaders don't use military for election purposes and then almost bring the country to the brink of a full blown war, if that is stable for you, then you must be the bakhat who elected him in the first place.

Modi is very stable. Here to stay till 2026-27. It's you who are unstable. We never know when your general overthrows your PM to assume power.

There is nothing that is impossible, and how we choose to counter it is something we decide, you worry about your own problems.

Reaction is not possible to this... And India won't need Scramjet for Pakistan and you have no need of scram jet for your deterrent doctrine. Subs or more missiles will solve your problem... Brahmos and Prithvi provide enough coverage of the western theater from Indian missile PoV and Subs and Agni provide a clear second launch capability as well.. This one is fully dedicated to peaceful uses and ofcourse to our northeastern neighbors

He's far more stable than your counterpart in that case. Who doesn't know anything and makes stupid statement (like of Rahul Gandhi) and keeps on insulting himself by desperately sending invites.
Stable leaders don't use military for election purposes and then almost bring the country to the brink of a full blown war,
Leaders don't hold talks with perpetrators of terrorists who kill your people.
Seriously, a full blown war is detrimental to existence of Pakistan & not India.

Funny that you guys used to chest thump here a couple of years ago, now you guys have been trending saynotowar.
if that is stable for you, then you must be the bakhat who elected him in the first place.
You can term me whatever you want. People supporting a particular party for just 5 years for aggressive foreign policy and long term economic development goals (a party who turned once one of India's poorest states Gujarat into richest ones) are bhakts. But people supporting a party for past 70 years no defined plans at all for next year are some sort of intelligent breeds.

I'm same even context Pakistan. The Pakistani who believes that Pakistani politicians and generals are mentally stable in anyway, himself is stunted mentally.

There is nothing that is impossible, and how we choose to counter it is something we decide, you worry about your own problems.
We are very much and we have been sustaining our system much better than you since independence. These are you guys who are lecturing us on electing our leaders.

1. Indian Project isn't finished yet. It's just a base in development for future HGVs and advanced AAMs. 2. Scramjet project of India is at least 2 decades old. 3. Doing it in shorter time than US, Russia & China requiring better aviation industry is faulty argument.

US, Russia & China defined the project and made innovation. Once they did it, we got to know what we had to do.

We don't need them to sit idle to catch up. As technology advances, leveling up becomes slow and there is a room for new players like India to patch up some gap.

Achieving hypersonic speed isn't an achievement but cruising is. HGVs are different beasts than cruise missiles as well. They are mounted on a missile to achieve high altitude and desired velocity and get ignited when inlet air is at supersonic speed. Google search American project "Prompt Global Strike".

And HGV is highly maneuverable. Unlike some zig zag maneuvers of RVs, these glide vehicles can perform well defined maneuvers in 3D space.

The HGV are so shaped that they generate wave lift. Compression lift. You know HGV ride on shock waves. Like the XB-70.
So a HGV can cover much more distance than a RV ever can.

Shaurya can execute maneuvers like a HGV. A hypersonic cruise missile like HSTDV can attain speeds of upto Mach 8. Whereas HGV fly at speeds anywhere between M20 to M24.

It was just additional feather in cap. As Indian economy surpasses that of UK, Germany & Japan to claim third place after USA & China, all sectors including R&D, military and space will follow to keep synergy and uniformity with India's relative position.

Catchy headline as usual. Indian MoD & DRDO declared mission a success, Indian defence analaysts termed it a partial success. While now this, calls it flop.

The modified Agni-1 booster on which it was mounted had underperformed and didn't give desired altitude. Rest all parameters were successful from separation of HSTDV to it's gliding. In no way, HSTDV flopped.

However, these test show that we aren't getting spoonfed unlike some other countries. They have little to show against us but unreasonably highly inflated egos.

I still see a ballistic missiles as more potent militarily. Scram jets.....despite all the hype....Are not a mature technology and fizzle out. Cruising in the atmosphere at high mach.....creates a huge thermal signature.

They can be intercepted relatively easily. High altitude ABMs make MiRVed ICBMs ineffective.

We will talk what they are when they are developed. Obviously countries who are making them have ballistic missiles already.

Cruising at hypersonic speeds makes it difficult for CIWS to intercept. Any HGV will leave room for no less than 10 seconds to save yourself. In these 10 seconds, you have to detect it and counter it.

So your logic is that ballistic missiles can be intercepted easily but a high Mach cruise missile...can't??? If one can be intercepted so can the other.

with due all respect if ScramJet tech is that easy and USA/Russia had researching/developing since 80s then USA/Russia had ScramJet Vehicle in late 80 or mid 90s and Russia recently induct their first hypersonic weapons, so how it possible that India will induct hypersonic vehicle within 5 -6 years as some indian member claims, and tell me how this possible, is India have better aviation industry then
Actually it doesn't work like that. There are areas where India is closely trailing EU in technology and then there are those where they are visibly ahead of India. Since we are specifically talking about hypersonics , let's just confine ourselves to the realm of hypersonic alone and not get digressed to other areas. In hypersonics, in the context of India, both DRDO and ISRO have developed their own technology demonstrator vehicles- DRDO's scramjet is more close to being a weapon as compared to ISRO's scramjet. It is also wrong to claim that India has been working on scramjet for just 6 years or so. In reality, there has been a gradual progression of technology starting from solid ramjet (akash missile program), liquid ramjet (similar to Brahmos developed by DRDL), throttleable ramjet(SDRF program) to scramjet(hypersonic HSTDV program). This takes the Indian efforts to more than 30 years! On scramjet alone the initial feasibility studies were carried out in mid 2000-late 2000s. DRDO demonstrated their scramjet by firing for continuous 20seconds in 2011-2012. The main problem with scramjet is sustaining the combustion for any meaningful period of time.

Well done to India. Scramjet and hypersonic vehicles even the basic ballistic kinds are no easy problem. This being scramjet and controllable is same league as big three. There are different types being experimented on with different ranges and speeds and jobs. All are military jobs. Micro satellites can be launched cheaper and easier with more traditional rocket methods.

Rajnikanth answer mamu.. Took a nice discussion to movie style.. nice!

I said difficult. Ballistic missiles follow a parabolic path and target country has time to detect and intercept it. Scanning hypersonic vehicles and then destroying them is very difficult, attributed to lower amount of distance to be travelled (than a parabolic trajectory).

HGVs in development today are being tested as an alternative of RVs IMO to be put on missile.
