India successfully test-fired nuclear-capable submarine-launched K-4 ballistic missile

Pontoons?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K-4_(missile)

The developmental testing of K-4 started in January 2010, when the missile successfully ejected from a pontoon submerged 50 meters below the surface of water and breached the surface

You see the boat next to the launch site at the beginning of the video, these are basically submerged static platforms for testing purpose, this was not an actual test from the submarine, which is a completely different ball game with many inherent risks involved.

Indian have not to date tested this missile live on their submarines. I think g*** p**** h** . :D

Indians have tested this missile live on Arihant ... K-4 missile is tested around a dozen times now from both pontoons and Arihant...keeping couple of failures aside the missile is proving to be a notch above any Agni in service till date in fact the K-4 base tech will be transferred to Agni -6 also and Agni-4/5 will be replaced ...

No evidence of any such test yet conducted from deep sea from sub. Even the headlines use the future tense, "will". "Will be inducted with Arihant".

All test till date are conducted using pontoons. Reveal a lot about India's second strike capability.

No one fires SLBM from "deep sea". Not the US ,Russia nor China. Depth is kept to about 40-50 metres. The depth of that pontoon.

Don't stress your punny brain much. Deep sea reference was where the sub is taken in vastness of sea and tested in real life scenario. India haven't even tested the missile from sub yet.

Lol K15 is a SLBM with a range of 750km. Its already operationalised. We have already completed the Nuclear triad.
As per some reports K4 is already test fired from Arihant in 2016 itself

And anyways such projects go in secrecy and actual details are classified.

Do you know the meaning of operational?

That means the missile if fully mated with Subs and subs are doing routing patrols in sea with loaded missiles. Nothing of that sort has happened. All available information suggest the missile has only been "tested" using pontoons. If it was operational, it would have been tested with a sub, which is not the case, even in this latest test. Can clearly see the pontoons.

SSBN and SLBM programs are of highly secretive nature...
K-15 is deployed with nuclear warheads already and Arihant has completed numerous deterrence patrols from past 2 and half years.
And yes Arihant has fired both k-15 and k-4 from deep seas...
You will never find the info. Or news regarding them as these are not something Indian Navy wants to advertise... on the other hand any new missile test done by DRDO does feature on some news, these two latest tests of K-4 are validating MARV ... rest this is the info thats well known in military circles..

I am saying K15 SLBM is operational and not K4. So we already have a second strike capability.
And this video looks old cz no official video has been released. This might be from some old test.
Anyways we never know the reality as such projects are quite secret

Indian Navy Boomer Completes ‘First Deterrent Patrol’
They have a short range missile 750 km single war head on it. Mostly Pakistan specific missile.

The author from article is wrong about No First Use policy... Indian Govt has no stated policy regarding this... it was always as the situation demands...
Pakistan has already crossed the threshold of minimum required deterrent for nukes anything above 150 nukes means Pakistan’s policy is not for defensive purposes...

Yes , battle star gallactica is also one of those "secretive" project by India.

Apart from usual nationalist Indian media rhetoric , there is nothing credible out there which can suggest that India has mated the missiles with subs and by going the track record of Indian Navy and handling of its subs, its more case of usual chest thumping.

This is how SLBM is tested, do you see any pontoon?
