As for the drawbacks in our society, we take note of them and will weed them out in time, if you really are as concerned as your posts portray you could always contribute to make things better in India or obviously you can work even harder and hide the pitfalls in your native land

I am a Keralite and such stuffs are totally shameful to our society.But this is a reality and there is no point in denial
I know a lots of people that involved in this .And also knows Hindus and Christians that seek helped from Muslim practitioners .According to them they are more powerful than others including Hindus.I dont know whether that is a reality or not.

Only thing that invadrs including Muslims and Brits were partition.

When you have worlds largest diversity, with second largest population singing there songs in democratic environments, it should not be surprise. This shows how much freedom individuals and community at large have, these kind of social issues cannot be curtailed using laws, for these education plays important role and India is pushing it into the deep roots. Thus maintaining the diversity yet removing the unwanted or ill practices and myth.

This is officially the worst argument I have ever heard in my life in defense of such stupidity. Diversity is to blame for superstition, guess the ancients really figured things out because diversity caused eclipse.

Indian subcontinent was united under a leader for a short period of time with Ashoka. But his empire do nor represent an Indian country. And it was too short of a duration and too long ago to be related to India today.

Education is the key........ But at times i feel even education cant help some idiots when it comes to superstition....... Yeah from Mysore to Kashmir ,from Assam to Iranian border is so small.
Considering the few crores of population at that in sub continent,it was too easy for him to unit these nation.
Short range or not ,he ruled this part of World for decades.400 years is also justa short period of time in our history that span around 5000+ years.
So he indeed represents this country .

And superstitious is not just limited to India, its human tendency and its wide spread globally, all you need to remove the filter "India" and see it.

Where did i say diversity brings superstition?
When you have very diverse cultures, its very hard to keep check on all the religious beliefs, practices and situation which lead to build up of superstitions.

There are so many different kind of cultures interpreting things the way they it came into there culture, that finding wired and variety of superstitions in India should not be a surprise. Only solution for this is bringing education and knowledge to root level, which help in making better logical decisions to get rid of superstitions.
