The Indian Army has signed 10 contracts for Russian arms and ammunition. India purchased 125-mm APFSDS ammunition for its T-90S tanks.

India has spent close to $1 billion in urgent arms deals with Russia in the last two to three months, The Times of India reported on Feb. 6. The country spent close to $3 billion (Rs. 20,000 crores) in deals with Russia, Israel, and France, after the terrorist attack in Uri in September 2016, the paper said.

The Indian Army signed about 10 contracts worth $865 million (Rs. 5,800 crores) with Russian companies, the paper said. The purchases from Russia range from engines and 125mm APFSDS (armour-piercing fin-stabilised discarding sabot) ammunition for T-90S and T-72 tanks to Konkurs anti-tank guided missiles and Smerch rockets, according to the paper.
In the same period, the Indian Air Force bought ammunition and spare parts for its Sukhoi-30MKIs and MiG-29s, as well as transport aircraft like IL-76s and mid-air refuellers like IL-78s, the paper said.

“The emergency purchases will obviate the need for armed forces to present long shopping lists to the government after every major terror strike,” a source told the paper. “They can now maintain operational readiness for different contingencies.”

Do you know what is the meaning of ammunition?
It consists ATGMs,Rockets,Missiles..Indian ordnance factory produces bullet since long before your toilet created..
that is EXACTLY what I mean; we already produce our own ATGMs, rockets, missiles, etc. maybe the indian ordinance factory should concentrate on developing toilet for its people and stick with it. big weapons and ammo are obviously too out of its league.

Epic Fail.
That thread is about a brass mill.
India is the largest producer of Brass in the world.
oye epic failure,

it was just a tiny little glimpse into how large our capacity really is. ;) And here's another hint and this was back in 2000. Imagine how much more we make now! ;)

OFB of india creates much more variety of ammunitions and in much larger quantity than any in pakistan

http://ofbindia.gov.in/index.php?wh=A-E-P-C&lang=en#subclass4

as our army and paramilitary is much larger in size we need to import more and certain specialized kind of explosives which are not manufactured by OFB

thar may be but it's obvious that We can meet our needs locally far more easily and effectively than you can.

Further more, one draw back of local consumption is the lack of kickbacks. The corruption that indian soldiers have highlighted is a good indication that corruption is alive and very deep rooted in the indian military establishment and therefore will naturally look for kickbacks from international suppliers by purchasing rather than producing.
