India Special Forces kick off anti-terror exercises in SL ignoring resistance from Tamil Nadu

Ignoring resistance from the political leadership in Tamil Nadu, a contingent of elite special forces of the Indian Army landed in Colombo on Monday to share their expertise in handling counter-insurgency operations.

According to a New Indian Express, a contingent of 42 special forces troops landed in Lanka to launch the military training exercise ‘Mitra Shakti’ to be held at Uva-Kudaoyo Commando Regiment training school. In the three-week session, the Army will share military warfare expertise with its Lankan counterparts.

“The special forces troops will participate in a training programme on November 3-23 and carry out counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism training under the UN mandate,” said an official.
As many as 168 personnel from the Lankan Army special forces and Commando regiment and 32 from Lankan Navy and Air Force will take part.

For the first time, an Army officer has been recently appointed in the Indian High Commission in Lanka.

bro, i don't think our SF will provide all the training and tactics to SL SF... we have training programs with US also... US is also training pakistan SF.... and pakistan don't have any training facility Like CIJW.... and the training is not theory to teach them in class rooms...srilankan SF have a good experience in counter insurgency operations, so there will be something for us to learn from them .... US army is also trained in CIJW..

bro, i don't think our SF will provide all the training and tactics to SL SF... we have training programs with US also... US is also training pakistan SF.... and pakistan don't have any training facility Like CIJW.... and the training is not theory to teach them in class rooms...srilankan SF have a good experience in counter insurgency operations, so there will be something for us to learn from them .... US army is also trained in CIJW..

And this is a joint training programme, It's not an Indian sponsored one, So there will be mutual exchange of information.. Plus SL SF has way more battle ground experience in anti insurgency than Indian SF does.. That is a widely acknowledged fact.. So if somebody is presumed to loose it's tactical expertise it would be the SL armed forces not Indian

SL has vast experience??Where??...Indian SF has operated in SL,Maldives,Africa,N-E since 40 years and Kashmir since 20..we dont send our commandos to train in SL...its your commandos and marines who regularly come here.

Btw your marines have earned more respect than Bangladeshis and other nationalities who come here regularly.

Those outfits are rag tagged compared to what LTTE was.. A fully fledged armed out fit that could do conventional war fare, One of the most powerfully funded terrorist networks.. What your forces face in Kashmir and the East are hit and run groups of insurgents.. Nothing compared
