India speaks to Pakistan about Hindu persecution

NEW DELHI: India has taken up Pakistan, the reported incidents of persecution, abduction and intimidation of Hindus and Sikhs in that country, parliament was told Wednesday.

"(The) government has seen reports of desecration and vandalization of Hindu temples and gurudwaras in Pakistan," minister of state for home M Ramachandran told the Rajya Sabha.

There have also been reports that members of minority communities in Pakistan have faced "persecution, abduction and intimidation" but there were no statistical data, he said.

The minister said that based on published reports, India had taken up the matter with Pakistan.

"The government of Pakistan has stated that it was fully cognizant of the situation and looked after the welfare of all its citizens, particularly the minority community," he said.

The minister added that some of the Pakistanis who had come to India had refused to go back on grounds of religious persecution in Pakistan and had sought Indian citizenship.

But there was no caste and religion based centralized data to know their real number, he added.

Some of the families are still divided in the two country and for the sake of them, India has to raise voice. Same way like Pakistanis do for minorities in India. India has a moral duty to take case of minorities in Pakistan as they got no one who listen to them not even their own govt just because they follow a religion most hated in Pakistan. Poor guys are at the mercy of Mullahs and can not even raise voice when their girls are kidnapped or the 100's of years old temples are demolished.

Hindustan should worry about the Hindus suffering in it's country first, half their country is living on less than $2 a day. Pakistanis Hindus enjoy a better standard of living than most of the Hindus living in India.

Nonsense. Pakistan was formed for the Muslims and India for Hindus.

It was the Hindu majority's nobility and wisdom that we developed our country as a secular nation. However it does not take away our responsibility to Hindus in Pakistan and Bangladesh.

There is no time limit to this ......as long as after effects of partition affect us, our responsibility to South Asian Hindus remain.

Of course some christians, Muslims and 'secular' kind of people in India would like to stick to a situation where Hindus in pakistan and bangladesh becomes refugees or convert to the majority religion in their respective nations.
