India sought US help to deal with 'assertive China'

China's neighbours, including India, are worried about the Asian giant's increasing assertiveness, the Wikileaks cables have revealed.

In a cable sent to the US State Department in February 2010, US ambassador to Beijing, Jon Huntsman had said that Indian ambassador S Jayashankar had sought closer co-operation with the US because of "China's more aggressive approach", the 'Guardian' reported.

Earlier, when US President Barack Obama had visited China in late 2009, a joint Sino-American statement had called for the two countries to “work together to promote peace, stability and development in that (South Asia) region”. This had, in turn, raised more worries about China's role in Asia.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, in his visit to US in late 2009 had raised worries over China officially, specifically talking about 'China's greater assertiveness'. The PM had also brought up the mention of India and Pakistan resolving their disputes in the US-China joint statement.

America had allayed Indian worries by agreeing that the world had to deal with a rising China and ensure that the rise was peaceful.

India is not the only country worried by Chinese assertiveness. According to a Guardian report, Japanese officials also filed similar complaints to the American ambassador. Japanese diplomats complained that officials were "aggressive and difficult" during summit preparations.

Japan was also concerned about rising tensions in the East China Sea. The cable claimed that it had specifically warned about "the increased aggressiveness of Chinese 'coastguard' and naval units…" which had provoked "many dangerous encounters with Japanese civilian and self-defence force ships".

Fair enough I suppose. You do what you have to do, it's not personal.

Now all the USA has to do... is find a way to balance their (1) security relationship with Pakistan, (2) their diplomatic relationship with India, (3) and their economic/trade relationship with China.

it's also the part of china
(1)to balance their diplomatic relationship with pakistan coz the worries in india was mainly raised after china start giving stapled visa , might be to please pakistan , under some deplomatic deal with pakistan where china recoganizing kashmir a disputed area or China blocking UN sanctions on Pak-based terrorists and pakistan in return siding china at IOC over unrest muslim areas in china....
(2) to balance their diplomatic relationship with US to safegaurd their economic/trade relationships coz the entire chinese economy is export base.
(3)security relationship with japan coz any chinese aggrestion over there will bring US in..

This is a common myth. Actually, exports make up only 36% of China's GDP, far lower than places like Germany or South Korea.

And exports to America count for only 0.5% of annual Chinese GDP growth.

(3)security relationship with japan coz any chinese aggrestion over there will bring US in..

We don't have any kind of military/security relationship or alliance with Japan...

Pakistan is our ally, so this shouldn't come as a surprise.

with china rising as great power India will tilt more towards USA.it will help India.

This table will give me a "batter" look at what exactly?

US is china's single most export distiation....
japan is china's single most supplier ........
US-china trade deficit is over 220bnUSD annually in faver of china..

Yes America is our number one export destination, but they still only make up less than 16% of total trade. And trade makes up only 36% of the Chinese economy.

Assume Chinese GDP growth at 10.5%... tell me how much of that 10.5% goes into American exports.

Nothing you have said is contradicting anything that I have said, so I'm not sure what you're getting at.
