New Delhi: India has signed the Inter-Government Agreement (IGA) with Russia for co-development and co-production of Fifth Generation Fighter aircraft in October 2007.

As per the IGA, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is the designated implementation organisation from the Indian side. In turn, HAL is supported by Defence Research Development Organisation ( DRDO), Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and other Indian agencies.

HAL and Rosoboronexport of Russia have signed the General Contract in December, 2008 and the Preliminary Design Contract in December, 2010. The Preliminary Stage of the project has been completed in June, 2013. The next stage of development would commence upon signing of the Research & Development (R&D) contract.

This information was given by Manohar Parrikar, Defence Minister in a written reply to Charanjeet Singh Rori and Vanaroja R in Lok Sabha today.

Bro, you should have read the post carefully. It says, " India has signed theInter-Government Agreement.(IGA) with Russia for co- development and co-production of Fifth Generation Fighter

He was talking about agreement being signed back in 2007 on development of FGFA only.

What matters is money we will pump into the project once r&d contract is signed.
And as of et we have not given a dime apart from a few hundred million for freezing of design.

Ya.. ONly the russian Version is ready ours which is FGFA has not even seen a prototype because the final negotiations have not finished.. we still need to give them half of the money for the R&D (correct me if wrong) There are news its no been signed becasue of the problems in work share. i think if we sign now we may get the prototype soon and in 2-4 years figghters would arrive

for that we still need to sign the final deal and release the funds which hasn't happened so far. if we get it by 2017 then in 2-3 years mass production will be started which is damn good
