The US train to fight a nuclear war. They have built over decades a system of deep concrete reinforced bunkers, into mountains and the like. They have a nuclear response policy and authority (so do we as I'm sure do you - but have you as a civilian ever seen done or been part of any nuclear strike scenario exercises?). They train and have nuclear response drills. Containment measures. There is a lot which can and should be done.

Sadly I feel there are way too many of us and the resources are just not there. Those in power know it. And have given up trying (if they ever did). When the nukes fly, it will be Ram Bahrose.

I think no developing nation is in a state of fighting war in todays word but still, you cannot rule out speculations. China might not do that due to Russians backing to India.

In '71, Soviet Union was a force to be reckoned.......today, Russia is still strong but nothing compared to China when you consider financials along with military prowess. In 10-20 years, China will be a super power challenging US and quite possibly in a position to brush aside many other military powers without much concern.

Pakistan, on the other hand, is a wild card.

Best defence against Nuclear Weapons is bilateral agreements and peaceful resolution of all neighbourhood disputes. I do not think Pakistan or China would go looking for a fight if there is nothing to fight about.
