Featured India Setting Up A New Complex To Develop A 110 kN Fighter Jet Engine

[QUOTE="waqasmwi, fighter-jet-engine-will-power-the-future-fighter-aircraft-of-the-]
Based on their history of red tape and corruption, it will take at least 10 years to get a prototype 😂
10 years from a completely clean sheet design to a prototype is actually what's typically expected for a jet engine. It's just the nature of the problem to have long design cycles. In 15-20 years India will have something it calls a prototype, it'll be a total failure that gets thrown on the trash heap beside its Kaveri predecessor, and India will announce a brand new project for a new engine with whatever the state of the art is. Repeat ad infinitum.

If it doesn’t meet design requirements and hasn’t got past initial testing how can you call it a good engine? If the ws 10 didn’t reach design requirements or got past testing then you indians would call it a complete failure. Why do you Indians need to be treated like special needs children and be patted on the head despite the Kaveri being an epic failure?

Never said anything like that. I think you guys played it right and has got good numbers at quick pace.

Indian supporting Indian. You are all South. We see how you treat Muslims.
Lying in your post and day dreaming is not civil but thats your problem. You belive the lies you state.
Like in the above yiu have stated DRDO has delivered its project...how over due was tejas and arjun? How much did yiu over spend? As I said. Pakistans best friend is DRDO
Are you drunk?

But kaveri hasn’t reached minimum design requirements and hasn’t got beyond testing. How can it even be considered a decent engine?

Consider how much was spent on it. What got developed infra etc .
And why drdo thinks it can pull off new project of course with a foreign partner. Lessons learnt from kaveri lol.
Yes kaveri is TD or failed but its not failed if that makes any sense.
But kaveri is not superior or whatever of any kind that fanboys claim.

Because it is not a decent engine by any means whatsoever. As you said, it did not even match the design specs, which were already extremely low to begin off with. This is what happens when a country that has zero experience in gas turbine engines moves to build a full blown aeroengine without any intermediary steps. At a bare minimum, India should have at least started building turboshafts, which are significantly easier to build than aero engines, just like Turkey has to gain gas turbine experience. Instead, India decided to run before it learned how to walk, which is why the Kaveri ended up as a massive failure, just like the Arjun, the LCA, and other domestic weapons systems.

Building a working engine prototype isn't actually that difficult on its own. The much harder issue is getting it to mass production, where the manufacturing cycle has to be very closely monitored and the engine has to be flight tested thousands of times. That is why you see the Russian Product 30 engine, which entered flight testing aboard a Su-57 back in 2017, not even being planned for operation throughout basically the entire decade.

DRDO can waste all the money it wants. In the end Indian military will buy a foreign engine.
I put an 😡 because..... Aik dam chup !
Don’t give them idea to buy a new engine immediately because it will kill me : they will have an engine without a jet to power with it

Lol all these chaps jumping up and down at our engine failure will shut up once Tejas Mk2 comes out. As for this new engine complex, do you think our govt disclosed everything they asked the French from the Rafale deal? The French will definitely be helping us in building a new engine...now you can ask your Iron Brother China to do the same for you :enjoy:

It might end up being a RR engine with Indian paint job

India got Brahmos where Indians did the same thing. Paying Russians through their noses so India can do the paint job on the missile.

China did the same in 60's with J-6, J-7, WP-8, and WJ-6, etc. But Chinese did it with a sense of shame, and India did it with a sense of pride, and that sets these two countries apart.

There's no shame in copying or reverse engineering ... as long as it fulfills your requirements, then you are happy. That is why China took no second thoughts in coming out with the Sino-flankers and the Z-20. As Steve Jobs said, good artists copy, great artists steal. The only reason why the Indians are talking about the Chinese being copiers is because they themselves do not have the capability to copy. That is why their indigenous arms industry is complete dog crap and the very few weapons that do see the light of day will be turned into scrap metal as soon as war starts.

I don't know, bro. But I for one, does not take pride in copying. It's pretty shameful. But we're getting out of it and innovating now and I feel much better in this Era.
