India set to develop own stealth combat drones

There's a different between dreaming and being realistic.

Indian is always too ambition on their project without getting their basic right first.

Over-promising and under-delivery has been in their culture, and the tradition will continue with no change in sight. With all of their simple reconnaissance Nishant UAVs just falling off the sky, yet they "set to develop own stealth combat drones". Indian members again will cheer for "Good Progress". Indeed, Good Progress!

Hmm, no, because several private firms are delivering on schedule, doing just fine.

Go look at Boeings, L.M., Sikorsky, etc partnership with several upcoming private firms in this sector.

All you see is performance by some government owned monopolistic companies that have been self in closed in their respective sectors by the government for generations, what do you honestly expect from them?

Tata aerospace will be among top 25-50 defense manufacturer BY 2025

Look at their portfolio and joint ventures, they alone can build this drone if Drdo can fly the prototype engine by 2020.

I kinda feel the change. HAL 25 KN turbofan has a generic plug and play core that is made via 3d printing & can evolve into dozens of engine with thrust varying from 25 kn to 37kn.
Now they have started work on 1200 hp turboshaft engine.
3d printing can alone speed up our engine
R&d program.

Hal is also feeling the heat of 49%fdi policy.
They know that it's not same corrupt feeble
Scamgress govt who ll let them roost without accountability.
At the same time some of comments from Hal high leadership is encouraging.
They are taking the challenge in positive sense.

They have outsourced major tejas work to pvt sector.
Their engine's components ll be manufactured by 100 of private sector.
Look at bharat forge, aequs. We have good mix of precision engineering.

We need pvt sector expertise in guidance
And navigation.
Drdo have a team of few dozens people from RCI hyderabad working on rustom drone,UAV,NIRBHAY.
Tata aerospace mahindra and some local
Uav manufacturer should form tech partnership with drdo uav team.
Why can't drdo partner involve pvt sector in Nirbhay.
It will be great learning experience for the pvt sector.

All defense contractors in China are monopoly companies owned by the government, but they do deliver the results. It is not the ownership of the company, but the accountability of the people in charge that matters. I hope the Indian private sectors will perform better than those government organizations.

DRDO & HAL also deliver ,they are late & failed in few but with their limited budget they have delivered , all these pvt are newbies & will take many years to reach their stage
