India rising as mobile app superpower
According to an infographic from Vserv.mobi, "The Rise of India as an App Superpower", India is one of the biggest consumer and publisher of mobile apps across mobile platforms.
Several factors have led to the growth of the ecosystem and India's high ranking across app stores:

Growing mobile internet penetration (Average mobile data plan <US$1/GB)
Cheaper smartphones (100+ smartphone models for <US$100)
Mobile-ready regional content (Cricket, Bollywood, Astrology, Devotional)

India has also seen a rise in app developer culture, a shift from the traditional services-based market, and that has been the key underlying driver for the rapid growth as a major app destination. For example, the second biggest Android User Group in the world is from India. Last year, Microsoft created a Guinness World Record for the largest app development marathon with over 2,500 developers at the Windows 8 AppFest in Bangalore, popularly referred to as the Silicon Valley of India.

Several independent developers and app development studios in the country have been developing mobile apps not just for clients (online services and content portals) and brands (marketing content and companion apps), but also as independent products. While most Indian apps are free, the developers aim to earn from in-app advertising and paid upgrades. Also, these apps serve as a showcase of their portfolio to acquire clients.
From adding new distribution channels to redefining product experience, mobile apps are forming an important element of consumer mobile behavior. World over, apps are driving the mobile ecosystem and India is leading this app-ification change.

app-ification

The word superpower will attract lot of trolls in thread

the second biggest Android User Group in the world is from India, so first would be CHina obviously.

And yet another example of wannabe superpower-ism.
Abhishek needs a life, seriously.

If app usage is a benchmark for being a superpower, then China owns the world.

Read the title again fanboy. Nobody else is jumping up and down and naming themselves a supower just for using/downloading apps.

that website which posted that article should really need to hire some good English teachers for their writers as word super power was not required for downloading and using apps...
well thats too a great achievement :haha:
Congrats...

Friend, why so much hate for the matter which is accessible only to limited people as of now especially. BTW it is not only about just using and downloading but also developing the apps. It's a virtual world where it helps in generating the money while investment is meager compared to the returns. So collectively it helps in providing the job opportunities to the needy & deserved ones.
And last but not the least thing, our thoughts are always out of reality. Whenever we speak of superpower, we don't study the matter. We just jump to a conclusion that hey see our country is super duper power. Even super power is differentiated into various categories. Some depend on physical existence while some in virtual. Virtual superpower doesn't need 1st class infrastructure necessarily, although it helps very much in sustainable development. So please try to add something which adds value to the forum instead of mud slanging. Peace.

I can appreciate telecom development in India and have been praising it's achievement esp the better services compared to Pakistan. But the superpower wannabe-ism just spoils the whole mood.

So it's not mud slinging, rather a bit of inflated ego that is ruining a wonderful topic.
