India protests submarine sale to Pakistan

Guys,

Are you seeing how these firang f******s are making money at both our countrys' expense? They will continue to play one against the other & stoke the flames across this subcontinent because they know it's in their interests.

That is why I hope and pray that both Pakistan & India become self-reliant in their defence needs as soon as possible. Once we become self-reliant, we become self confident. And then no outsider can sell us stuff by poisoning our minds.

Allow me this slight digression - but this argument of 'firangis stoking flames and making money off us' is just a canard that sounds nice while trying to make 'bhai bhai - dost dost'.

The fact of the matter is that the only entities responsible for lighting the fire and stoking it are India and Pakistan.

The US, EU, Russia or China are not preventing the two nations from resolving Kashmir or Siachen, it is the uncompromising and jingoistic attitudes in both nations.

Don't blame the 'firangi's' for regional tensions - they are entirely India and Pakistan's fault.

That is so true AM. It is benefiting them alot financially. Looking at both the countries what are we doing. Spending billions in arms race, and they are laughing all the way to the bank.

I am sure you Indians didnt call it a waste when India launched the MRCA tender. Somehow You people always find these words when Pakistan is buying something. Talk about being a hypocrite.:disagree:

For the highlighted part, do you think that even if we assume for one second that all issues between India and Pakistan gets resolved, India will quit purchasing arms and so will Pakistan, think again, it ant gonna happen. India sees itself as a global power and for that they need to contain CHina, China on the other hand takes Pakistan as a counterweight and besides Pakistan will not accept Indian big brother role in the region even if all the issues are resolved and hence both countries would still buy weapons to maintain the parity.

All smaller neighbours of India have seen Indian interference in their internal affairs, be it Bhuttan or Maldivies and coming back to Pakistan & India, what peace measures between Pakistan & India have been achieved while during all the time peace was talked between both countries ! Yes visas & sumghota express, how about sorting some problems ! Even for Baglihar dam India refused to dialogue & WB arbitration was sought by Pakistan. Like Kargil, Pakistan has faced Siachen by India, has India withdrawn from this Pakistani land ? I am sure .. more could be written of Indian arrogance & Baniya movements .. hence, arms race in the sub-continent will surely take it's toll on the economies of both the countries.

Nothing it is different matter altogeather it is between some private entity BCCI and Sri Lankan bord they want to aks Srilanka to come there so that they can save the money

Now this is a bunch of hog wash!

BCCI is prejudice like the Indian govt. and like the good majority of Indians.

India was after NZL for the series and went after SRL once they agreed to tour Pakistan.

India is obsessed with Pakistan and likes to interfere in all matters.

German subs or no German subs, Pakistan will continue to seek modern tech. which meets its demand.

Pakistan to buy German submarines

Islamabad, Nov 26: In a departure from the past practice of acquiring submarines from France, Pakistan will buy three German Type 214 submarines.

Walter Freitag, the chief executive officer of the HDW, the largest conventional submarine maker in the world, said his company had finalised technical specifications with the navy to build three Type 214 submarines in Pakistan. ''The commercial contract has been finalised up to 95 per cent,'' local English daily The News today quoted Mr Freitage as saying in the port city of Karachi. He hoped that the final contract in this regard would be signed soon. This is the first time that a clear picture of a possible billion-dollar deal that the Pakistan Navy is expected to sign in the coming months.

Earlier, during mid-90s, the navy had selected three French Agosta 90-B submarines, which were in addition to the two acquired earlier.

The deal had generated a lot of controversy at that time.

This time French firm Armaris had offered to supply Pakistan three updated single-hulled, diesel-electric submarines, all-French version of the Franco-Spanish Scorpene boat, equipped with air-independent propulsion, a deal totalling about 1.2 billion dollar.

However, Mr Freitag said he did not see that kind of controversy enveloping this project perceived during the 90s. ''The Pakistan Navy understands submarines and ours are the best,'' he said.

The first submarine would be delivered to the Pakistan Navy in 64 months after signing of the contract while the rest would be completed successively in 12 months.

The CEO of HDW stated they would be using facilities at the Karachi Shipyard for building Type 214 and minimal upgrade would be required.

He added that the Type 214 was 100 per cent German and there was no chance of embargo on it in any case.

well it seems that pakistan is indeed getting them subs...i think it is a very clever decision by the PN to have an effective sub strength of around india's sub strength. They know matching india's surface fleet strength is difficult...so killer subs v/s giant ships...good move!

The anticipation is growing and growing and growing. If everything is on track and no one seems to be objecting the deal or giving an ear to Indian whining, what then seems to be the problem with signing the contract? What the hell are we waiting for, for someone to raise an objection:disagree:

after U 214 SONG class sub from china will make hell out of indian ships just imagine

AGOSTA 90B 3
U 214 3
SONG CLASS 4

It would be better if after acquiring the U class boats, we focus our energies on updating our surface fleet with modern and heavier displacement frigates/destroyers. Also if we can instead of the song class conventional diesel attack submarines, we should try to incorporate a nuclear submarine, maybe type 093 of the Chinese origin for starters.

The pros & cons of contracts for such type of equipment take at leat 18 to 24 months to get finalized. Do not think that they are not working on it.

Such type of announcement means that the contract is under discussion in both countries.

With that said however the time passed is well over 18 months for now and still yet there is not contract signing. Now i know no one is sitting idle but For a country such as Pakistan, things might take a twist which means that whatever is on offer should be grasped with utmost urgency or it might end up all in vain.
