Except Pakistan and Israel I think Bangladesh can pretty much buy stuff and make joint venture with any defense industry around the globe.

It is a no man's land for Bangladesh. Never lose independent policy-making power by joining Indian efforts to build weapons.

You win some and lose some in a joint production. But it will enhance your knowledge from information exchange. You need less capital for research and development, especially if you are going 50-50 equity. In my opinion, BD will need may be another 10 years in information technology to catch up to India. India should look for more advanced countries for joint productions.

You will always lose some independence if what you require is not made by you. However collaboration in mid-level defense equipment from India is profitable for BD in comparison to the West since due to our geopolitical interests we will beld over backwards to accommodate Bangladeshi concerns compared to the West. In the long run how you become an independent defence equipment manufacturer depends on you people only. However taking help from India will be associated with a lot of political and religious opposition from BD.

Not only our common people, our military people would reject any machine build in collaboration with India.

Respect the border and there won't be any casualties. Why is it that these only happen to Bangladeshi and not other way around? It is not that BSF are trigger happy, but the amount of illegal activities that happen at the border is really the main cause for concern.
