India plans to procure 1,700 Future Ready Combat Vehicles to replace T-72M Ajeya tanks

Yes the requirements in the RFI do point towards T14. The two issues with that are going to be Cost and ToT. India wants full ToT and local integration, Russia so far has not given any country full ToT for even base model T90S, india still has to import the guns, the tracks, the transmission and other things for it because Russia refuses to give ToT. So it’s unlikely they will give full ToT for T14. However if india is willing to make a compromise there and can come up with the funds, then T14 is a very formidable tank, one of the best in the world (granted the APS and ammo are purchased with it).
The RFI also states that induction is to start in 2030, and judging by previous Induction rates, will take over 20 years to complete the order of 1800 tanks. So it will be some time still before we see this in service.

The other thing to consider here would be the increasing closeness of india to the USA and how they might react to this sale in 2030. Or how Russia might react to Chinese pressure over this sale in 2030. Both of these might be a non issue or a major hinderance depending on how things are a few years down the line.

Regardless of all that, if a tank like this is purchased even in 2030, it will be a great capability boost to IA.

Your news is behind the times.Tracks and Engine are now built in india and indian tracks are better than the russian ones in fact .Engine was recently indigenized, its a copy.1500HP engine work in progress.Gun production is nearing completion for gun barrels for t-72 and t-90 which are better than older ones.Orders have gone to private industry(kalyani bharat forge and TATA who both have casting experience on arty guns) and private industry is not OFB loser.Armata may not happen due to no ToT and more importantly i'm not sure the no crew in turret system is proven enough for IA to mass adopt it.

it will be the Armata t14 with license production beating off competition from South Korea and Israel

False. Engine is built in India but it’s exactly the same one as the Russian one. I already said that, it’s not a copy, it’s license production, copy would mean legal trouble.
India does not have the permission to make its own 1500HP engine and then put it into a T90S. India also cannot do that without changing the entire hull, which would be very inefficient. India would need permission from Russia for that anyways, or for any major change to the T90, like changing the gun.

India has only partially produced one order of T90S tanks locally, which was about 400 tanks, before that one major order was direct imports and one was only assembly from Knock down kits. In that one partially produced order, tracks were imported and not made in India, maybe it will change for this order.
Transmission is also directly imported from Russia. Russia gives ToT for neither. Both are very easy to reverse engineer and produce locally, but that would get india into legal trouble with Russia, because it means Russia is losing profit on its T90S exports.

The gun production is also not true at all, india did make its own gun for research purposes but it does not use those for T90S. India will not change the guns on its T90S and T72 tanks simply because it’s not cost effective, the gun is the one part of the T90S that doesn’t even need changing.
Changing the guns and using locally produced barrels to make the same guns is a different thing, india cannot do either, since Russia never gave metallurgical ToT for guns, nor the license to make them.

Indian media says and claims a lot of things, but you can look at pictures of Indian Tanks or official press releases from the Indian army, none of the changes you mentioned have or will occur as they’re simply unrealistic.

Too soon to assume. Especially since we’re gonna have to wait till 2030, by then US may not be happy about it. Either way, full license production won’t happen, partial at most, still T-14 would be the best purchase for Indian army, they can co-produce it like they do the T90S so that both local and Russian industry stays happy.

The Armata push by Russia has been going on for 5 years now ...
India was and is looking at global.rfi with Israel and Korea pushing their black panther and merkava but both are too costly at double the Armata price and over 60 tonne weight..

India will Arjun to work in desert at 60 tonnes about 249 tanks mark1 and 1a,

the r72 replacement needs to be medium.weight Armata is 48 tonnes and 4 million a peice to buy and meets indian historical need a we have used Russian tanks always
Armata will happen 90 percent certainty unless a new generation tank enters the fray from Europe or India

You’re not understanding what I’m saying, I didn’t say the Armata doesn’t meet Indian requirements, it does. What I’m saying is that the Indian RFI mentions that they want to induct this vehicle in 2030, which means they want more models to come forward from other countries and for this technology to mature before they order it, since only the Armata has it now and even that isn’t in serial production, it’s unproven tech, india is smart enough to not buy unproven tech.

secondly, historical use doesn’t matter, alliances shift, if India keeps getting closer to the USA as its doing currently, then by 2030 Russian tech is gonna be off the menu, unless India balances between both USA and Russia, in which case it will not get many favors against China from the USA.

Also, Arjun is very poorly suited to any sort of combat, especially desert combat, poor mobility, poor armor, massive target, obsolete gun and ammo. MK-1A has decent technology and sensors but all of these issues still remain. T90S is still India’s main tank and will be for a while, because it seems they’ve given up on the Arjun program.
