don't think it is a typo...they have given a correct conversion in indian rupees...probability is low of having a typo twice in the same context unless intentional...but spending 1 trillion $ that too in terms of today's exchange rate is highly unlikely!!! only possibility i see if the substantial part of the investment is for defense industrial development and with a dual purpose of export...and involving private partnership...

Whoa, hold on there. This is NOT for defense equipment acquisitions, IIRC, rather investments in the industrial sector concentrating on defense. I think the figures are correct considering regular govt investments. 50 Trillion Rupees as investments over a period of 5 years is feasible.
