ISLAMABAD: India-Pakistan peace talks will be possible only when the BJP is voted out in India, a Pakistani newspaper said on Saturday.

The Nation said in an editorial that despite Islamabad's attempts, New Delhi was not ready for reconciliation.

"The BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) might hopefully lose power soon, and maybe we can start (peace talks) again with a more level-headed government," it said.

The editorial came after Pakistan's permanent representative to UN, Maliha Lodhi, handed over to the UN three dossiers allegedly containing "proof" of Indian involvement in terrorist activities in Pakistan.

Sartaz Aziz, adviser to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on national security and foreign affairs, also accused India of repeatedly violating the 2003 ceasefire pact with Pakistan on the LoC in Jammu & Kashmir.

"As far as the Indian government goes, Pakistan is the primary sponsor of terrorism, and they will stick by this claim no matter what those dossiers state," the daily said.

"Even if the audio and video evidence present in these files prove beyond doubt that India is indeed sponsoring state terrorism in Pakistan, nothing will change."

The Nation said: "For now, India is at an international high, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a superstar. This will fade."

Bunch of jokers.
Its we who will decide who our pm will be, not you.
Modi will stay till at least 2030 and even further.

Nation pk is a newspaper run by amateurs. You cannot wish to have different dispensation that is favorable to you for talks. You have to deal with things as it is in international dispensation. It is the fault of Pakistan government to not able to engage with Modi.

The really foolish thing is to assume that another government will be more sympathetic to them. They got nowhere with Manmohan Singh, who do they expect will be more favourably disposed than him? Indian interests are indian interests, doesn't matter who is in power.

Interpretation of Indian interests varies. Assertion of Indian interests vary

Regards

That's a given. Only nuances change, any Indian government can only go a little ahead of the people (and even less that with the opposition). As Shiv shankar Menon said - That after the 26/11 attack, there is no constituency (except a few Punjabis) in India for better relations with Pakistan. The border heat that the Pakistanis are facing now was started by the MMS government in 2013.

Ufa was a great opportunity for Pakistan to engage with India. It would have been a great platform for Pakistan to allay fears of India on terrorist threat emanating from Pakistan. India never said it would not discuss Kashmir. Ufa would have revived the composite dialogue. Alas as usual Pakistan army killed the peace process.

The 26/11 required a much stronger response and assertion - as things stand there have been no results, UPA govt could have pushed the point for immediate and concrete gains, instead it allowed itself to be mollified and coddled by third parties.

Sometimes National Interest is about thinking way ahead - even at the risk of short term pain for long term gain. As thing stands, the space is open for a repeat occurrence as India has not extracted any cost from Pakistan. Border heat was condoned by UPA but would have happened regardless - Army and BSF have lot more tactical control and autonomy than is apparent.

India elected BJP and Narendra Modi for the development and prosperity of this nation. Not for the dilly dally talks with a neighbour nation.
Narendra Modi and BJP will elected by us again if they deliver their promises. So far their rule is excellent .
We will give another five years if they complete these five year successfully. If that means a total non zero talks with Pakistan .We dont have any problem.
We need development in this nation. Not talks.

Perhaps MMS was the last one that opted a soft approach towards Pakistan. At that time our mord i momim though that was our weakness and too our goodwill for granted.
Now they would cry for that missed opportunity.
Singh was the last one in that old gen.
Rahul Gandhi is also different like Modi .Both of them are new gen .
Once the same Rahul said why shoukd we bothered about Pakistan.

Pakistan already missed their bus.Now they dont have any leverage in India .
And if things goes like this Pakistan will become our foreign policy timepass or hobby.

hehehe…........than need to wait at least 9 more years..
