This problem is easy to solve, and no one needs to impose choices on anybody. All you have to do is vote for the BJP in your country. You could also campaign for them and give them your money in the form of election contributions. After all, no one has ever claimed that the BJP follows some kind of "hereditary succession".

And if you can't stand the smell of the BJP, you can vote for the Communist Parties. The communists also do not have this issue with "hereditary" or "dynastic" politics.

And if you can't stand the sight of the Communists, you are free to start your own party, are you not?

In short, if the INC is disliked for being undemocratic because it operates "like a royal family in a constitutional monarchy", then all you have to do is work to get the INC kicked out.

I agree with you that Maoists could actually improve things. They could turn India into a more homogenous society by eliminating all religions, classes and castes and making everybody equally-liable for planting rice and milking goats-- just like Chairman Mao did for China. This would, at one stroke, solve half of India's social problems.

But to bring the Maoists in, we must give them support. We must give them our money, we must volunteer to fight with them against state-oppression, we must help them establish a more cohesive, cogent political order free of hereditary and dynastic succession.

If we refuse to act and sit around the computer doing nothing, we are not going to achieve anything.

Indian National Congress had a chance of doing away with the Dynasty after the assassination of Ms.Indira Gandhi. But, Morons of the Party made the historic error of judgement by choosing Rajiv Gandhi. They had a small chance with PVNR, after Rajiv Gandhi but again these idiots chose the dynasty. The Party which could boast of highest ideals and greatest Nationalist leaders of India, today became a PVT limited Company of Nehru Dynasty. Even, Nehru would have felt this as an embarrassment.
The only face saving point is that the Opposition in India is responsible and has well groomed Politicians and statesmen. Otherwise our Polity would have further sucked. Thank goodness for opposition with a spirit of democracy and constitutionalism.

Indian polity is complex. People vote on local issues ignoring national issue. This has helped the Gandhi family. If Rahul Gandhi were to stand in a presidential type of election, I am sure he will loose.
