India-origin Abhijit Banerjee among three to receive Economics Nobel

I disagree, a country like India doesn't need one firebrand leader replacing another. We need a Manmohan with his hands free from a disruptive coalition.

Remember one slogan of Kanhaiya and his comrades :

Poonjivaad se aazadi ( Freedom from Capitalism )
Saamantvaad se aazadi ( Freedom from Feudalism )

300,000+ farmers committed suicide between 1995 and 2015, and if anything, Manmohan Singh in his term as PM in that period did nothing to prevent that.

Democracy is still the most suitable form if you want long term stability.

There are two types of Democracy :

1. Representative Democracy, with two or more political parties vying to get into power. Examples are Britain, India, USA etc. This is not true democracy.

2. Direct Democracy, with no political parties and with people directly ruling. Examples are Libya before 2011 and Switzerland. Notable is that Libya before 2011 had a Direct Democracy Socialist system.

Its not possible to replicate Switzerland in India or US owing to population, time and cost and various other factors. True democracy would be ideal but thats not the only way.

Sir, it's not capitalism that's at fault here but rampant corruption and layers and layers of bureaucracy.
We need an economist not someone who plays to the gallery.
His agenda is nothing new, it was the only policy that was followed for 40 years till '91, where successive congress governments siphoned money from tax payers to fund a corrupt bureaucratic set-up.

Unless we weed out corruption and attitudinal issues, no system will work to benefit (at least to the point the weakest can see tangible impact).
