India offers help in stopping proliferation of WMDs

India has welcomed the extension of the mandate of the Committee on proliferation of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons for 10 years and has offered its assistance to other states in fulfilling their obligations. The extension of the timeline until April 25, 2021 under a UN Security Council re solution 1977 has been included to help plan on long-term and predictable basis assistance and cooperation programmes for States requesting such assistance from the Committee.
In a statement on the adoption of the resolution, India Wednesday expressed its unwavering commitment to global efforts for preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) and their means of delivery.

India recognizes that proliferation of WMDs and their means of delivery is a major challenge facing the international community, it said.

"As a victim of terrorism for over three decades, we are fully cognisant of the catastrophic dangers that transfers of WMDs to non-state and terrorists could entail," it said noting clandestine proliferation networks have led to insecurity for all and must not be allowed to reappear.

The international community must join hands in eliminating the risks relating to sensitive materials and technologies falling into hands of terrorists and non-state actors, the Indian statement said.

"The focus on non-state actors should in no way diminish state accountability in combating terrorism, dismantling its support infrastructure or its linkages with WMD," it said.

India, the statement noted welcomed US President Barack Obama's initiative in convening a Summit on Nuclear Security in Washington in April 2010.

India also welcomed the adoption of the Summit Communiqué and the Work Plan which establishes a common platform for all participating states.

Reiterating New Delhi's commitment to achieving the objectives of the resolution, the statement said "India is also prepared to render necessary assistance to states requesting such assistance in fulfilling their obligations under the resolution."

The statement also expressed the hope that the extended deadline will also encourage the Committee to take forward its work in a spirit of transparency and cooperation so that all member states feel that they have a common stake in the successful implementation of UNSC Resolution 1540."

India is not. The so claimed H-Bomb tests at the end of 1990s were about 30-40kt, most experts concluded they were just failed or faked H-bomb tests.
NPT is not your toy, it is never going to accept a nation as nuclear power when it couldn't even demonstrate a working Teller–Ulam device.

demonstrate a real Teller–Ulam device over 1mt, and india will be recognized.

please do some more background reading before you spread your joke here, since 1960s, a nation is only considered as a nuclear power if it can demonstrate the ability to produce a working Teller–Ulam device, not some faked conventional 40kt bomb.

So basically you are arguing India should produce more and bigger nuclear weapons..so that it can be accepted as a member of Nuclear non proliferation treaty!!..really you have some skewed sense of logic there.

No, I am saying india will have to produce more and bigger nuclear weapons so it can be accepted as a member of the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty as a nuclear weapon state, or india should just sign the NPT as a non-nuclear weapons state.

Based on the fact that india doesn't have the ability to produce any working Teller–Ulam device, it is not a nuclear weapon state, thus india should sign the NPT as a non-nuclear weapons state.

Please do show me which clause in NPT ..which directs relates membership in NPT as nuclear weapons state to ability to produce 1 MT nuclear weapon...or did you just made up that one ..hunh??

kitne shareef baney ki koshish kar rahe ho , proliferation ki itni fikar han tu NPT sign kar lo ....kiyun dunya ko bewakoof bana rahe ho ....

Its is not a propaganda but a principled stand..we do not believe in proliferation of Nuclear weapons and have never proliferated nuclear weapons unlike few other countries even though we are non signatory of NPT ..But we havent signed the treaty because we find that treaty discriminatory.

Do you think the NPT will ever officially recognize India as a nuclear-weapons state?

That is why we are against the discriminatory treaty but that doesnot make us pro nuclear prolifearation.

Actions matter more than being NPT member. We have done better than most NPT nation, including China. So dude don't preach.

Yet have to hear once where an international organisation or a country accusing India involved in proliferation.
