What's new

India-Noble NGO Greenpeace crumbles under Modi's Fascism- says satring at shutdown!

Good ; very good put them in their place

They have only one agenda stall development work

We can always plant more trees but people need real jobs that comes from development

Mate good luck to Greenpeace, our HM is not going to budge on this till Green peace is thrown out on road. We also need to find those domestic 77,000 account holder name who contributed to Green peace and send Income tax people to their offices and house to teach them lesson and grill them where they got so much money. I want Indian Government to make sure green peace and people like pillia do not get another job in India.:enjoy::enjoy:

Ha ha ha.......... This is good they can go to court and fight against GOI as situation in Judiciary is not good due large number of case load they will be clearing the name in 20 years by that time Greenpeace will be dead and buried in India.:-)
1.those 77K supporters are basicalli congressiesare those pying a part of there rented benami properties of big congressi leaders +some very old congressi crooni capitalists and there employees and all 77K and more who ever are funding all these NGOs have already getting various challan noticesfrom diffrent taxation deparments and that is the main reason why these so called "enlightenned civil society"people and activists are making so much noises

on what grounds is green peace being forced to dissolve in india?? if any group must be banned, there are more reasons to ban rss ( and arrest its core membership ) than shovel dirt on green peace or those protestors against the nuclear reactors.

RSS is the only deterrence against the wahabis and Zihadis. It is the time to deal with Wahabis and Zihadis like china does. They only inderstand one language, the language of Saudi and china. We must make such a horrible law for Zihadis and wahabis that they Pi** in their pant before opening their dirty wahabi mouth.

thanks for joke of the day.

every government is answerable to common human values.

few years back a mullah like you would have said modi becoming pm is a joke but he did become with a thumping majority , so the joke is on you. You will spend your whole life sitting in a dark room and spreading Bullsht through your keyboard on the internet while RSS will continue to become stronger & stronger on the ground.

Did I say you a wahabi in this post?

How ever the fact of the matter is that democracy does not suite to some people of Zihadi and Wahabi minds. Look at Azam khan and owasi. They need to be dealt delt with in a manner in which the people like them used to be handled in Dark age of 6th century in desert. If you give them freedom and rights, they shall surely miss use that. Radical people need radical laws to be dealt with. else they shall use democratic freedom to propagate Wahabism and sharia in democratic society. China is doing right thing in dealing with them so as saudi. Pakistan hanged so many people after moratorium on capital punishment for few years.

New Delhi: Greenpeace India on Tuesday said it was staring at an “imminent” shutdown within a month in the absence of funds for staff salaries and accused the government of “strangulating” it by stealth after the freezing of its funds.
In his address to the Greenpeace India staff, executive director Samit Aich asked them to prepare for the imminent shutdown of the organisation after 14 years in the country.
“Greenpeace India has one month left to fight for its survival with the threat of an imminent shutdown looming large. The NGO has been left with funds for staff salaries and office costs that will last for just about a month,” a Greenpeace India statement said.

Calling it “strangulation by stealth”, the global green body also challenged the home minister to stop using arbitrary penalties and admit that he is trying to shut Greenpeace India down because of its successful campaigns.
It said that the home ministry’s decision to block its domestic bank accounts could lead to not only the loss of 340 employees but a “sudden death” for its campaigns which strived to represent the voice of the poor on issues of “sustainable development, environmental justice and clean, affordable energy”.

“I just made one of the hardest speeches of my life but my staff deserve to know the truth. We have one month left to save Greenpeace India from complete shutdown and to fight MHA’s indefensible decision to block our domestic accounts,” said Aich.
It said that following allegations over foreign funding, Greenpeace India has been the subject of a string of penalties imposed by the MHA, all of which have been overturned by the Delhi high court. The latest is blocking access to domestic bank accounts funded by donations from over 77,000 Indian citizens.

The government had earlier barred Greenpeace India from receiving foreign funds with immediate effect by suspending its licence for six months and froze all its accounts, alleging it has “prejudicially” affected the country’s public and economic interests. The environmental activist group has also been served a notice by the government which asked why its registration should not be cancelled permanently.

While Greenpeace India is currently preparing its formal response to this decision as well as a fresh legal challenge, Aich expressed concern that the legal process could extend well beyond 1 June—when cash reserves for salaries and office costs will run dry, the statement said.

“The question here is why are 340 people facing the loss of their jobs? Is it because we talked about pesticide-free tea, air pollution, and a cleaner, fairer future for all Indians,” Aich said.

Priya Pillai, a senior campaigner with Greenpeace India whose overseas travel ban was overturned by the Delhi high court in March, said that due to all this a chilling message will go out to the rest of Indian civil society. “I fear for my own future, but what worries me much more is the chilling message that will go out to the rest of Indian civil society and the voiceless people they represent. The MHA has gone too far by blocking our domestic bank accounts, which are funded by individual Indian citizens. If Greenpeace India is first, who is next?” she asked.

Asking the home ministry to recognise the impact of its decision, Greenpeace India said that home minister Rajnath Singh is trying to “strangle” us by stealth as he knows an outright ban is “unconstitutional”. “We ask him to confirm that he is trying to close Greenpeace India and suppress our voice. His arbitrary attack could set a very dangerous precedent. Every Indian civil society group is now on the chopping block,” said Aich.

Well ...if you get foreign funds and use them in any country.. you need to disclose the source of funding. If not theen you get busted like this one. Nothing new... anyways India has one NGO for every 600 people .. no one is going to miss a dozen.

In fairness the previous GoI did take action against those foreign NGOs funding protests against the Kudankulam power plant and subsequently got those "protests" silenced and the power plant operationalised.

Kudankulam protests also had a local political angle...... A political party used it as a tool to get votes, and once they got into power they ensured to reduce the support for the agitation by power cuts....... those days interior parts of TN had power only for 4 hours a day, and they used to provide them in 4 installments (1 hour each)
