India never debriefed why Mig-35 was Eliminated under MMRCA: Mig CEO

Mig CEO Sergei Korotkov said that Indian Air Force and Indian Ministry of Defence (MOD) never officially debriefed Mig Corporation, why its Mig-35 fighter jet offered under MMRCA Contract was eliminated and what were technical reasons for ouster from MMRCA Race, before EAD’s Eurofighter and Dassault Rafale fighter jets were shortlisted by India for final rounds .

Success of Mig-29UPG programme and India’s commitment to procure one or two fighter jets over 36 French Rafale fighter jet currently been negotiated has reignited Mig Corporations hope of landing a deal with India to manufacture Mig-35s in India with Private defence partner but he also confirmed that Mig corporation nor Russian government had held any official discussions with Indian government on possible sale of Mig-35 to India.

Korotkov speculated that down selection of EAD’s Eurofighter and Dassault Rafale fighter jets for final rounds was most likely Political considerations since Mig-35 was technical compliant with MMRCA Programme and had cleared technical requirement parameters set by Indian Air force.

Korotkov also said that Indian Air force which also operates large numbers of upgraded Mig-29UPG will need minimal training and infrastructure and logistics changes to adopt Mig-35 into its operational service by Indian Air force.

Idrw.org in its previous reports had mentioned that Lockheed Martins F-16 Block 70 and SAAB’s Gripen Next Generation both are leading the race to manufacture this jets in India if procured by India.

Clinch a separate deal of 150 Mig-35s for IAF with fully localized production. And everyone will be happy.

There is a high possibility of India opting for two additional MMRCA lines. One western and one Russian, apart from the Rafales.

Probably the reason was the lack of quality spares on time and the price escalations without any valid reasons.

Because there was no Mig-35 flying in India, for the evolution, MIG29 UPG, MIG29K and MIG-35 shares the same cockpit design and many subsystems, and India do not want another Russian fighter plane in its inventory, due to the history that speaks that the Russian planes are cheaper in cost, but costly in operating them than the western counterpart.

Why crying now, because only Rafale, and EF-2000 was found to be suitable fulfilling IAF requirement.
