India : Muslim family forced to leave theatre for not standing during national anthem

People should respect the national anthem of all countries, not just theirs. I think it is a crime not to stand up and respect the national anthem of any country, unless it is a part of a movie or drama or documentary etc.

In fact one of the men arguing strongly against the jerk who was sitting down, was a Muslim himself (going by appearance). I could distinctly hear him say "Shame on You.

There are certain Fundamental Duties that are prescribed by the Constitution of India .
If U don't accept them , U are going to be stripped of Ur Fundamental Rights .

Sorry bhai, as much as I do not support and have zero sympathy and only contempt for people who disrespect Indian flag, anthem etc...(or for that matter people worldwide who do it for whatever country they are from/in).... We cannot strip them of their fundamental rights unless they cross the line of causing physical violence and direct harm.

Yes they can be shown the door as the rest of the people among them have done....they can be booked and prosecuted (within reason).....but their fundamental rights to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness cannot be taken away from them for them being anti-national peacefully.

I had a similar thing happen to me when I gone to watch a movie in Mumbai.

There was a bunch of people who did not rise when the announcement of the Anthem was made. They appeared to be foreign nationals but could also have been from the North East (unlikely due to their dressing). So before the Anthem started I told them in a Firm Loud Voice "Please stand up for the National Anthem".

All of them stood up (reluctantly) except for one boy/man. By this the time the Anthem started playing and that person was still sitting, but I was unable to tell him anything. But I continued to stare at him angrily and started gesturing with my hand to Get up. He responded back with his hand showing "wait".

I waited and then gestured gain with my hand all this while staring at him and people now began to notice and his friends were getting uncomfortable (the guys who had stood up). This guy still refused to stand.

I then waited for the stanza to get over and then reached over and physically pulled him up. He seemed angry and shocked at first, but the seem to realize I was not going to back down and his friends said something to him in their lingo and he finally stood up.

After the movie got over I went over to him to give a piece of my mind but his friend saw me coming and said to me "we understand". So I left it at that.

I think this is Mumbai and not Bangalore. They don't play national anthem before movies in Bangalore.

RSS and Bhakts are happy that the National Anthem is in Sanskrit and not in Urdu or English.

While in Mumbai during World Cup India Pak matches I mostly would end up Bar... This bar is the one which i go weekly...

So when the National anthem started playing I stood up with my friends... everyone else in rest of the bar stood along we sang our heart's out ... even the Bar attender's, manager and the chef came and joined us...

at the end of it we all huged each other and all most all the costumer waited till the match got over with an Indian victory... what a Day to remember...

If u dont pay respect to our Flag and our National Anthem then u dont deserve to stay or Visit India ... even if ur a foreigner...

That incident (which happened with me) actually played up in my mind for a few days and left me thinking. I was left with a feeling that his not standing up was a kind of protest.

But I am not sure what he was protesting, was he protesting against his own Nation ? by disrespecting the anthem of a different nation and treating it as he would treat his own National Anthem ?

Was he protesting against India in a strange way ? Was he protesting against something that happened to him during his visit ?

If he was an Indian why was he protesting this way ? Who did he want to offend ?

Only questions, No answers. Maybe I should have gone ahead and have asked him that day. I still regret that I did not ask him.

Once these was an old hag walking in the middle of the street . People in vehicle had to stop their vehicles due to her .
A Guy from Traffic police tells her to move on the side instead of the walking in middle of the road .

The hag in anger said and I quote , " This a a Free Country . I have freedom to do whatever pleases me . Who are U to stop me . "
The Guy with a Smile replied , " Yes Indeed . People who are driving the car have the same right . In that case they must drive and hit U , thus injuring and Killing U . If U want to stay on such path I have no problem .

The hag understood her mistake , Apologized and went on her way

Prosecute them within the law...or eject them from interacting with society when they display it (like in this case).

Response must always be proportional in any civilised country, especially one as large and diverse as India.

Certain rights of theirs must be taken away sure....but not fundamental rights.
