No buddy, they just manage to totally encircle China. Russia in the North, India in the South, Central Asian Republics under the sway of Russia in the West, Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Vietnam etc in the East. That is the idea.

Then we"ll stay out, though there is a real threat. Historically we"ve stayed away from anti-Chinese alliances.

It seems we have some multi threaded discussions going on.

1. Partner US/NATO in missile defense development.

2. Install NATO missiles in INDIA.

3. We should ask russians on which side of the bed to piss !!

4. We should not join anti china alliance.

And I guess point 1 is the pertinent subject in this case not the other issues.... lets stick to the topic !!

Yes, we should stay out. Not because it is a anti Chinese alliance but because we should stay out of all alliances of all types. If they lend or sell to us the ABM tech that we need to make our ABM shield more effective, nothing like it. If not, we develop the tech ourselves. China has been our enemy for five decades now, much older than the US-Sino hostility. But we should never permit foreigners operating weapon systems from our soil.

I have said it many times in the thread and again saying this, this title is misleading there will be no NATO ABM placed in India but they offered us technology cooperation. They have the best technology and we were waiting for removal of sanctions. It is not like we cannot do it but cooperation with NATO make it more hi-tech and faster deployment.

Than prepare for next war, that is between India and China+Pakistan.

My friend, what do you think the ex Army Chief was saying when he said that we were preparing for a two front war?? People on this forum construed that as an aggressive and an inflammatory statement. But India has been facing a two front war since 1965. It was our friendship with the USSR which kept China at bay all these years. Since 1991, we have been on our own. So nothing new there. It is part of our doctrine.

Just one question; where the hell were you 2 hours ago??I was getting slaughtered here for advocating the same, that too by Indian members.

Mate, I agree with your statement quoting ex army chief that we are preparing for two front war. we are well arming for defending ourselves but I will not agree that we face two front war any time of history but it was rather a two front threat not war. Our wars were always single front.

But now time changed, geopolitics also changed. China is much more powerful. Pakistan is closer to china like never before. lots of free weapons transfers by china. Chinese soldiers basing is Pakistan. It is more like if there is any skirmish or conflict with any of those both of them will come together than why should not we get the allies those wooing us to join them against a common enemy? Why we cannot share our technology, capability and above all our fighting capabilities? Two countries do not become friend just for nothing but for reasons. Pakistan and China is a big example next door.

Since 1991, we have been on our own. So nothing new there. It is part of our doctrine.
Actually we were alone right from beginning. Only during 1971 Indira Gandhi sought for help against US direct military intervention in BD independence war.

Good you survived the mayhem!!! 2 hours ago? oooopss!! Can't name the site. Hahahaha. Any time buddy.

ofc ! Every one is unanimous on that i think. The problem is, we should not be over confident in rejecting co-operation. And a complex tech like ABM with interception at boost phase is a very very complex challenge. Since we need it and others are willing to share it with us what is the problem ? Even I am against installing NATO missiles on Indian soil. or some alliance purely directed against some one specifically. India should not be a party to other's whims. But my friend the pertinent question is in cooperating in the development process !!

Also, India had earlier rejected offers for Patriot Missile shield etc because they were earlier rejected by US. And when DRDO successfully developed the LRTR and recorded success in both exo/endo atmospheric interception then only US offered us the Patriot which accepting at that point was beyond logic...

We do whatever is better for our country. Some protection from the fanatic neighbors who battle more from the heart than brains. Prevention always is better. With the US openly declaring that Pakistan is not a country anymore, just factions of Talibaan & other terrorist factions, the nukes will fall into wrong hands is a possibility.
India has two bad neighbors Pakistan & China.

great- take that vision and don't ask the US for any technologies, don't beg to get off the restricted lists, don't beg to be part of Nuclear tech sharing club without a NPT in place from the US and other partners, don't have any foreign companies to operate on Indian soil. Go back to the days of protectionism vs. inclusion...do it all on your own even if you are 20 years behind their technology. spend billions of tax payers money ...when you can easily be part of a global secruity net.

Oh while you are at it- read up someday about Indian military and Russian bases residing " on its land" during cold war and beyond...and also make sure silly things like India asking for air bases in Tajikistan are off the table :P lastly make sure you question why Russia is also a part of the NATO missile shield…

Actually what confuses me is what is the benefit for NATO/USA having ABMs in India?

I mean if its for the security of Degio Garcia then any ballistic missile from Iran/NK doesn't follow the trajectory where the missile will have to pass over India.

Not at all,

This is hit they want on coming strong organization SCO & on Indo-Russian relations. Their main purpose is to cover Russia indirectly with China. So tell me what kind of good relations India is looking from China by accepting ABM?
India will be isolated in case acceptance of this system.
