New Delhi: China on Tuesday rejected talks that India had made concessions in the Chumar region in southern Ladakh to end its standoff across the Line of Actual Control (LAC), triggered by the recent incursion by Chinese troops in Ladakh's Daulat Oldi Begi sector.

After the three-week long standoff ended on Monday, speculation was rife that India had agreed to demolish a border observation bunker in the Chumar region in southern Ladakh, which China had objected to. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), however, had denied the allegation.
Meanwhile, sources say External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid, when he visits China this week, will have a candid talk with his Chinese counterpart.

Sources say border management will be a part of the talks. Sources add that India will press China to clarify Line of Actual Control, and exchange maps.

India is also reportedly considering China's proposal for a pact on border defence cooperation. Meanwhile, sources says the incident at Depsang, Ladakh has dented confidence in China. But Beijing rejects any talk that India made any concessions to China in the Chumar region of Ladakh.
Sources say only one shelter was brought down by Indian troops. This was the shelter that was completed after April 15.

Chinese troops have regularly infiltrated the region in the recent past. The India-China face-off got the attention of the Pentagon as well. In a report to the US Congress, it warned that China's use of force to settle disputed borders, referring to rising tensions driven by rival claims in Arunachal and Ladakh. It said China had settled border disputes with 11 countries since 1998 but those with India remained unsettled.

The Chinese and Indian armies have withdrawn simultaneously from face-off point at the Daulat Beg Oldi sector in Ladakh on Sunday. Chinese soldiers had pitched their tents in the DBO area since April 15, 2013 and had refused to vacate the positions in the failed flag meetings held between the two sides to resolve the issue. A battalion of Chinese troops estimate at about 50 and accompanied by vehicles and dogs had intruded 19 km inside the Indian territory across the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in DBO sector and set up five tents.
The Indian troops had also established tented posts facing the Chinese forces at a distance of 300 metres. The troops of the two sides held four flag meetings, the last one being on Saturday.

Jammy, I am still not believing this source , but just wondering how the CREDIBILITY of sources changes suddenly when even an IOTA of positive news for India is shown.

To Be really fair, what exactly happened on Ground could not be known by anyone, i repeat - ANYONE.

Ignore Windjammer guys.

Anyways Here is the real story:

On February 27 a PLA Platoon confronted a IA border post for 4 hours near DBO the standoff was broken after both India and China send more troops as CO's on both sides did not want an escalation.
India constructed a a bunker in Chumar in March after this.

A month later PLA send in troops to pitch tents in protest as they claim it was in violation to 2003 India-China deal not to construct any permanent structures by both sides in this area.
India said that deal no longer stands as China violated it on Feb 27

Later two very very senior Chinese and Indian officials signed an agreement not to escalate matters and to go back to pre Feb 27 situation.

So Chinese troops pulled back and India demolished the march made bunker and in the end status quo prevailed.
Peace.
