How is it worrying? It just shows that the rural voter has gotten smarter. Even an idiot would know that the opposition is comprised of the most corrupt, deceitful, communal, casteists and filthy pigs. Rahul Gandhi, Mayawati, Akhilesh Yadav, Mamata Banerjee, Lalu Prasad, Sharad Pawar, kamal Nath, Pigvijay Singh, Stalin... can you visualize any of them as a PM? The very thought of it makes me puke. The margin of victory is on this scale because there was literally no worthy opposition. Might sound like a surprise to you but even the rural voter can decide between blatant good and bad. Sure, they can be taken for a ride from time to time by offering freebies and evoking sentiments on basis of caste, but when the difference is this crystal clear, they will make the right choice.
May be you are right. But Modi did not deliver whatever he claimed on the economic front. The jobs data which the government was trying to hide leaked and it shows that unemployment is at one of the highest levels since decades. His speaches during most of these elections were more about Pulwama and Pakistan than about economy unlike his campaign in 2014. Even India's GDP growth numbers are being doubted by the IMF, I believe for the first time in Indian history.
Still, so many people voted for it. Don't know what to think of it. Seems like a lot of voters voted for Hindutva reasons this time and reasons like teaching Muslims a lesson rather than economy. Or may be the voters just don't see any other option besides Modi right now despite not being fully satisfied. God knows what explains the massive numbers despite not delivering on the economy.
and before you or anyone assume that I am Khangressi or Aaptard or something, i voted BJP in 2014 and None of the Above this time because that's exactly how i felt about the elections this time.
