India - Just One More To Go

MARIETTA, Ga., September 8th, 2011 -- The fifth of six C-130J Super Hercules on order for the Indian Air Force has departed the Lockheed Martin facility in Marietta. This aircraft, like its predecessors, was delivered well ahead of schedule and is now en route to Air Force Station Hindan in India. India’s sixth C-130J will be delivered in October.

As MTA development just started, there is huge possibility that India will go for more C-130J.

C-130J package

The Government of India has requested a possible sale of:
6 Lockheed Martin C-130J United States Air Force (USAF) baseline aircraft including USAF baseline equipment
4 Rolls Royce AE 2100D3 spare engines
8 AAR-47 Missile Warning Systems (two of them spares)
8 AN/ALR-56M Advanced Radar Warning Receivers (two of them spares)

8 AAQ-22 Star SAFIRE III Special Operations Suites (two of them spares)
8 ALQ-211 Suite of Integrated Radio Frequency Countermeasures (two of them spares)

8 spare Secure Voice Very High Frequency/Ultra High Frequency Radios
4 spare Secure Voice High Frequency Radios
3 spare AN/AAR-222 SINCGARS and Key Gen (KV-10) Systems
1 KIV-119 Non-standard Communication/COMSEC equipment

(Some of the equipments removed as India did not agree to sign CISMOA and some other agreements)

It seems US/LM is trying to impress India/IAF with quick delivery. It is amazing all 6 delivered within a year (well under). Is it any wonder GoI/MoD is getting sick of Russians?

+ follow on order for 6 is pretty much a given but the question is will IAF buy more for non-SOFs ops?

Is it true that AAR-47 Missile Warning Systems were removed?

I doubt that. The whole modernization of An-32 will be waste. The modernisation of an-32 was mainly because everyone is waiting for MRTA.

No. the last five and replaced with Indian systems.

just wait , seeing previous trends we will place a following order soon.

One thing is clear that the yankees are determined to challenge the deadlines unlike the russies. Good for India. We were sick of delays. Hope India and America make a credible partnership in defence in the days to come, provided the bullying conditions are grounded..

If USA can deliver all 126 MMRCA in 3 years...select F-18 n put israeli avionics on it...deal done

This is another aspect whether US beats Russian & French hands down.....
Russian & French have to respect the schedule or they seriously risk loosing the market to US and Isreal
