India joins the West on Syrian crisis

Bhadrakumar (from whose blog that OP is taken) is right in that western intervention in Syria is amoral.

But Bhadrakumar is blindly anti-western ... he often goes against Indian interests in the area of most concern, i.e. South Asia.

As regards the India's vote on the Syria issue, I cannot support it. But we should also recognize that it is irrelevant.

I think we will have to wait for Modi in 2014 for India to take a strong stand on various issues.

It is complicated ... for example would Saudis have extradited Abu Jundal so willingly if India were to oppose their Syria policy openly?

The blog is fake to begin with.

One who reads original article by Bhadrakumar, will be very well aware of the quality and standard of the observations made by him.

you are mistaken, it is genuine, and it's well known that MKB blogs there.

So India worshiping it's Gora Masters again, not surprising

Perhaps it is because India is searching for someone to align with? For example Pakistan, Bangladesh and now Sri Lanka seem to be aligning with China and since China is a no no for India they chose to align with the USA.

Still you guys have only 1 neighbor India and you guys agreed to accept China as master to counter India. :enjoy:

When there is revolution in a country, only two states used to get benifited out of it until 1990, then now its East Vs West.
But no one cares about the number of people who die in the rebelion.
For Asad, he is a moron, he can not rule with military might if the people of the nation does not want him. As far as INDIA's stand is considered, we do not do arms sale to either side of the Syrian Rebelion. so we have nothing to gain on our stand or nothing to lose. which logically means that we stand on the side of the people of Syria. if Azad is confident of his majority, he should have called for a election and proved his majority to the people once again so that he can rule till the end of his natural life rather than going on killing his own country men just to stay in power.
As far as Russia and China supporting Azzad, the guy is on the winning side with the weapons that he purchased from both Russia and China and there is a future prospectus of more such orders. Neither Russia nor China cares for the people of Syria who get butchered with the weapons they supply to Azzads Forces

Nope, Sri Lanka was driven to China by the idiocy of your babus.

Not that I'm complaining, because it certainly has been good for Sri Lanka with all the investments that China has made in the island.

Secondly, Sri Lanka has many neighbours in the region. Difference being that Sri Lanka has good to excellent relations with all of them - including with China.

You are misinformed, Assad has already put a democratic constitution in place. It is the rebels who don't want an election, and don't want to negotiate, because they are relying on foreign support.

Right, it is India that is the "major non-NATO ally" of the US.

Perhaps it is because India is searching for someone to align with? For example Pakistan, Bangladesh and now Sri Lanka seem to be aligning with China and since China is a no no for India they chose to align with the USA.

I am not fully happy with the policy. But in a situation in which some Asian nations like China and Pakistan are supporting terrorism, it becomes especially necessary for India to have cordial relations everybody else. At least we are doing no harm in Syria, our vote is quite irrelevant.

India's responsibility is to protect its own people from terrorism, and we have to acknowledge that the Saudi policy of extraditing Pakistan backed terrorists has been helpful.
