All the jokes aside, I think that there would be far greater respect for India on this forum if their politicians set realistic goals. If you think about it in the past few decades India has made tremendous strides in the following fields:
1) Steel production: No 2 in the world, even ahead of Japan and the U.S.
2) Largest producer of diary products
3) Best preserver of megafauna among developing countries, especially for large cats like tigers, lions, and leopards. Currently India is the only place in the world where lions and tigers coexist
4) NO3 in terms of power production and tremendous progress in terms in renewable energy capacity installed.
Instead of focusing on what India has or can achieve, their politicians make outlandish predictions that can't be achieved. Let me put forth another example:
Let's say that your parents wanted you to go to Harvard very badly and since you were a toddler, kept on telling everyone in the neighborhood about how their kid is gonna make it big and go to Harvard. Now that you are grown up, got a great education, hold a pretty good high paying job, but did not attend Harvard. Is it wrong for the neighbors to laugh at your parents for setting an unrealistic goal?
