India have protested to London Olympic organisers after a mysterious woman gatecrashed their squad at the opening ceremony, media reports said on Sunday.

The unidentified woman, dressed in a red top and blue pants, was seen walking alongside India's flag-bearer Sushil Kumar at Friday's ceremony even though she was not part of the contingent.

India's acting chef-de-mission Muralidharan Raja slammed the intrusion, but stopped short of calling it a security breach even though the woman was not wearing the customary identification badge.

"She had no business being there. It was a clear case of intrusion," Raja was quoted as saying by the Times of India. "We are taking up the issue with the organisers.

"We don't know who she is and why she was allowed to walk in. It is a shame that she was walking with our athletes.

"I can't say that (if it was a security breach) as she was in a sanitised zone, but this was bizarre. We will ask for an apology.

"She embarrassed us in front of the world. The Indian contingent was shown (on television) for just 10 seconds, and to think this lady hogged all the limelight."

Raja, asked if he believed the woman was an Indian, said: "She could be Asian, Latin American, I don't know."

India has fielded its largest Olympic contingent of 81 athletes with hopes of bettering its Beijing Games tally of one gold and two bronze medals.

A serious issue shouldn't be ignored.
The details of young beautiful lady smartly dressed contradictory to the event marching with contingent ,drawn more attention than the Indian olympiads ,speaks a lot of the situation.
Is there a fashion design or beauty competition in this London olympics?

It is an intentional attempt to demoralize Indian athletes and the organizers are absolutely well inside this conspiracy. If this type of act has not been happened to any other country then India must withdraw from this 2012 Olympic games in favor of the protest against imposing insult to our Nation.

Who cares anyway? The world doesn't care about India or Indians. The officials accompanying the sportsmen should have intervened. What were they doing? or maybe they didnt really care. This is India. Sab chalta hai. We can withdraw from the games. No one will really care. We've made ourselves totally dispensible. Even tiny countries had better exposure than the Indian contingent. But do we really care? You know the answer to that.

this lady is hilarious, and she does look Indian, maybe the organizers thought she was an Indian celebrity.so funny and I cant help laughing.

May be UK did wanted it, considering their reaction when we dumped Typhoon and their cry about Aid given to us and finance minister calling it peanuts.

Old tricks. Nothing new.

Only 11 officials for 40 athletes, that's 36% officials. Thank god ex president Pratibha's term ended else, she would have visited the Olympics with her realtives and cooks and the officials wouls have crossed 100 for sure since her group is of 70 persons.

this guy blames those overnumbered officials accountable for the incident.

What's so embarrassing about it that Raja has said: "It is a shame that she was walking with our athletes."??? lol.
