SRINAGAR, India-controlled Kashmir, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Indian Army troopers Friday claimed to have foiled an infiltration bid online-of-control (LoC) by killing two militants in India-controlled Kashmir, defense officials said.
The Indian army spokesperson in Srinagar, Lt.Col. J. S. Brar told Xinhua that the militants were killed in Keran sector of Kupwara, around 130 kilometers northwest of Srinagar, the summer capital of India-controlled Kashmir.
"Two militants were gunned down during a gunfight that triggered after the troops guarding the LoC observed suspicious movement and zeroed on to check it. It's an infiltration bid that has been foiled," said Brar.
The troops have cordoned off the entire area and search operation is underway. Further details about the gunfight are awaited.
On Thursday one militant was killed in a similar encounter that broke out in Tangdhar-Kupwara, 130 km northwest of Srinagar.
