India: Earnings from statue of Unity

Number of visitors at the #StatueOfUnity in the first three days

Friday: 2737 visitors (₹ 5.5 Lakh)
Saturday: 2299 visitors (₹4 Lakh)
Sunday: 7710 visitors (₹19.1 Lakh)

Total revenue from first three days is only ₹28.6 Lakh.

If this the rate at which visitors come, only ₹35 crore will be earned every year.

That means it will take 85+ years to recover all the money spent on the statue

Where are Indians telling me that they will generate massive amount of revenue out of it??? Even the money that is being spent by tourists on the statue in reality is only a diversion from other tourists attraction. No additional income is being added to the system from tourism.

The revenue is from transport, hotels should also be included.

Lots of jobs will be created. Huge boost to tourism industry. Mainly Indians money will be spent in India only unlike the old days when people used to plan vacations to foreign countries.

India is constructing many monuments. Looking forward to Chatrapathi Shivaji statue and Bhagavan Ram statue in Ayodhya.

Built on Narmada bank. Close to Patel was born. More over the Sardar Sarovar of close by. Modi is an astute businessman. he wants people to come to villages and lift up the economy there.
Yes.

With Rs 3,000 crores, India can make 40,000 to 50,000 houses for poor people. Why waste Rs 3,000 crores on a giant statue ??

The Shivaji statue will cost Rs 3500 crores. That is another 50,000 houses for poor people.
Let us sell the land in prime areas of delhi used for the samadhi of Nehru, Indira and Rajiv. that should easily fetch more than 5000 crore.

how many houses can be built in that amount

.
If you guys won't build a statue for Shivaji, you might as well drown in chullu bhar paani and die.

This is Maha Rashtra.

We don't need your tax money if it's pinching you guys so much.

Cheers, Doc

It's not either/or, people also say India is poor why does it require nuclear bomb or nuclear submarine or ICBM or space program etc etc. Going by that logic we would be socialist/welfare state with a broken economy in less than a decade.

.
Why just bother ??

It's their national hero their land and their money if people of India are happy with it then be it... :coffee::coffee:

Hmm india and china with massive populations and cultures encouraging idol worship and idol creation can generate huge amounts of money frim such things.

No problem with the statue for a remarkable man,,,,but cud have been smaller n way cheaper.
Feels like wastage of money.
Statue cud have been made 1/3rd of size n rest of money used to develop the area for tourism,,parks, museums, cottage industries, hotels n what not.
But well

I seriously wonder what would have happened if the Europeans in the 16th century would have been like some people here saying why "why not feed the poor?" Their population was literally dying of plague in 14th century and they had extreme levels of poverty in 16th century itself and still they set sail to explore the world, discovered new lands, invested in trade and industry and enslaved most of the world. They people who were slaved can't see beyond roti, kapda and makan ,just like a animal only concern is food and shelter. No aspiration to reach somewhere,no aspiration to do anything to contribute to their civilization cause and keep asking"why space missions? Feed poor" ..yah they world will still be n neeiv
medival ages if Europeans would have said" no exploration, feed the poor."
