India Developing, but still a long way to go

You may be right.... But i was talking about those followers who follow f1 before BIC.......But i am disappointed with the new engine...... it sounds like a splendor which has a silencer flute removed.... the only advantage, you can hear the driver on the radio clearly.....

I failed to make my final point in the previous post. The reason I said that F1 was a force-fed sport is that the average Indian enthusiast is hooked onto the sport by the dramatic commentary and various data and camera shots shown on TV, something which isn't to be found when seen Live. It's novelty will wear off very quickly when one sees it live in a circuit.

The lukewarm response to the race was apparent the second time round at BIC. Hence, either they'll have to give time between races there in order for newer F1 converts to bite the bullet(meaning, skip the venue for a few editions) or they'll have to lower the ticket prices dramatically so that the mildly curious guy is also willing to have a tryst with the sport Live.

Well i know..... I myself wanted to go to delhi watch last year grand prix... But then decided not to because of the same reason you pointed.... More over my 2 subordinates been to previous grand prix and have shared their experience...... But then i wanted to listen to that roar of that V8 engine.... Now that excitement also gone with new V6 turbo

Is it? Pretty sure its the Ambuja Upohar Complex, its in Garia. Or could be another Ambuja project :undecided:, these builders are not very imaginative with their the color schemes are they!

I remember having seen a building complex a lot like this one, opposite City centre 2, in New Town. That's a Bengal Ambuja project as well IIRC. You're probably right, though ... I have it confused.

Yeah there is an Ambuja project opposite CC2, but it doesn't have as many buildings I think. This one is in Garia, off the EM Bypass. Infact you can sorta see the South City towers in the left corner of the pic. :woot:

I WAS a former F1 follower. Gradually got disillusioned with how tightly closed the competition actually is. The top 3 teams always walk away with the championships, and the teams with limited funds are never in the fray.

Besides, I've asked a few enthusiastic supporters of F1 on why they don't follow F3 or Nascar or Indy 500 or Le Mans or Paris-Dakar if they're really motorsports enthusiasts, only to get really patchy answers. F1 has been 'fed' to India rather than Indians having a genuine interest in Motorsports.

Most F1 enthusiasts haven't even heard of our JK Tyre National Rally Championships. That's only because of the low hype our motorsports events generate and are the true indicator of our 'love' for the sport. One cannot appreciate the nuances of F1 without having followed other motorsport events, IMO.

Indian Railways' earnings rise
The Indian Railways have earned Rs 1,26,028.54 crore (Rs 1260.29 billion)

from passenger and goods traffic from April 2013 to February 2014 as compared to Rs 1,12,017.08 crore (Rs 1120.17 billion) in the same period last year, registering an increase of 12.51 per cent.

The total earnings from goods traffic during April–February were Rs 85,682.76 crore (Rs 856.83 billion) compared to Rs 77,368.52 crore (Rs 773.69 billion) during the corresponding period last year, an increase of 10.75 per cent, according to Railway Ministry data.

Railways have carried 953.05 million tonnes (MT) of freight traffic during this period as against 911.44 MT during the corresponding period last year, an increase of 4.57 per cent.

The passenger earnings during this period were Rs 33,755.46 crore (Rs 337.55 billion) as against Rs 28,915.09 crore (Rs 289.15 billion) during the same period last year, a jump of 16.74 per cent.

The earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs 3480.28 crore (Rs 34.8 billion) during this period as compared to Rs 2851.90 crore (Rs 28.52 billion) during the same period last year, an increase of 22.03 per cent.

However, there is a decline in the number of passengers booked in April-February as compared to the same period last year.

The total number of passengers booked during April-February were 7710.11 million compared to 7790.46 million during the same period last year, a decrease of 1.03 per cent.
