Days after suspected militants killed 18 Indian soldiers in Uri sector of held Kashmir, India deployed heavy infantry to front posts along the Line of Control (LoC), BBC Urdu reported Thursday.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spent most of the time in military operation room on Thursday where he oversaw troops’ activities along LoC, reported BBC’s correspondent in Srinagar, Riaz Masroor.

India has reportedly beefed up security in held Kashmir following Uri attack. New Delhi’s move comes in the wake of military exercise by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), which took place in northern areas of the country.

Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakria on Thursday said the drills were a part of PAF’s routine training. The spokesperson, however, added that Pakistan’s armed forces were prepared to defend the motherland.

Top Indian defence officials told BBC on condition of anonymity that Indian Army has deployed heavy and light infantry along LoC. As of now, officials said, the army has deployed canons in Uri sector.

India, however, denies the reports that such weapons have been deployed to tackle any military escalation with Pakistan. According to Indian Army, the development is a part of routine exercise ahead of winter season.

If news is true then Pakistan have already reinforced it's troops on AJK and heavy weapons are usually part of hostile time reinforcements.

The PAF went to their version of Defense Condition Readiness (as known as DEFCON-2 in the US, meaning war is imminent but CONVENTIONAL in Pakistani use of this term), about over two hours ago. There have been serious large scale SU-30, M2k and Jaguar movements in numbers, very close to the borders on two different places. The strike corps have mid-long range artillery deployed and being tested with a few rounds on the Indian side (and obviously, on the Pakistani side you'd have a similar scenario too).

Things are getting heated up. I hope the cooler heads prevail and a war can be avoided to save humans from suffer!!

Nothing is going fo happen on the military front. The public pressure was immense here but as usual its wearing off now. India is not expected to cross the border 1st in mass as indian military is still in the process of procurement of vital equipments. I know you guys will never believe but the harsh truth is that modi will not risk a war unless, idont know, like another strike happens. But personally i am quiet sure. No war as of now.

Are you sure?? Where do you think major offensive will come from India on Pakistan?? I have not seen air defence on Karachi port as it was visible during previous hostile times.
