India conveys its concerns to US over military sales to Pakistan | Zee News

New Delhi: New Delhi has conveyed its concerns to the US over sale of missiles and attack helicopters to Pakistan, saying it must take into account Indo-US ties and the impact on India's security before firming up such supplies.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha, also said the government keeps a constant watch on all developments that have a bearing on India's national interest and takes necessary steps to safeguard it.

"Most recently, we have noted that the US State Department made a determination approving possible Foreign Military Sales to Pakistan of AH-1Z Viper Attack Helicopters and AGM-114R Hellfire II Missiles and associated equipment, parts, training and logistical support for an estimated cost of USD 952 million.

"Government has sensitised the US of our concerns on US military sales to Pakistan. Government has consistently conveyed to the US that it must take into account India-US relations and the impact on India's security in deciding its military assistance to Pakistan," Swaraj said.

In April, the US approved sale of USD 952 million worth of attack helicopters, missiles and other defence equipment to Pakistan to help the country with its counter-terrorism operations, but said the deal would "not alter" the military balance in the region.

. .
if indians thinks that US is friendly with them because of their foreign policy then their is no question to call them idiots . US has friendly ties with india just because India is importing in billions from USA. And US will not loose its other customers or annoy any other country because of just indian concerns.

US is already losing its arm importer countries like brazil argentina peru to China and Europe. Pakistan is also slipping from their hands. As pakistan is more inclined towards China after shift in Pak China policy recently.

.
I think its good Pakistan is spending $1b on helicopters, with a crippling and small economy, only means less money for social developments to infrastructure and law and order.

Countries like India and China are spending more due to economic growth.

While US sales military equipment to Pakistan, India's like:

By Khaama Press - Tue Oct 31 2017, 12:31 pm

Pakistan has returned nine helicopters provided by the United States to monitor the Durand Line, it has been reported.

According to the local media reports, the helicopters were given to Pakistan in 2002 and were used by the ministry of interior of Pakistan.

Pakistani officials have told local media outlets that the helicopters were also used during the Balochistan operation and different anti-narcotics operations.

According to the officials, the helicopters also assisted the ministry in counter-terrorism operations and their return will affect all operations, including the monitoring of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The main reason behind the return of the helicopters has not been announced by the Pakistani officials so far which comes as the relations between Islamabad and Washington strained due to the presence of the terror groups and their safe havens in the country.

The relations between the two countries is at an all time low since the US President Donald Trump announced his administration’s strategy for Afghanistan and South Asia.

While announcing the US strategy late in August, the US President Donald Trump strongly criticized Pakistan regarding the terror sanctuaries, saying “For its part, Pakistan often gives safe haven to agents of chaos, violence, and terror. The threat is worse because Pakistan and India are two nuclear-armed states whose tense relations threaten to spiral into conflict. And that could happen.”
