NEW DELHI : There has been no intrusion into Indian territory in Ladakh and not a single Indian border post has been overrun, Prime Minister Narendra Modi told an all-party meeting on Friday, amid an unequivocal condemnation by Indian democracy of Chinese aggression that left 20 Indian soldiers dead.

“Neither anyone has intruded into our territory nor taken over any post. Our forces are doing what they have to do to protect the country, whether it is deployment, action or counter-action. Our patrolling capacity has increased due to newly built infrastructure, especially along LAC," Modi said, referring to the line of actual control (LAC) between India and China.

At the three-hour-long meeting, Modi said that while India desired peace and friendship, “sovereignty is most important".

“We have asked armed forces to take appropriate action and, simultaneously, we are reaching out to China through diplomatic channels to clearly state our views. Be it trade, counter terrorism, India has never come under pressure from outside," he added.

The implications of the statements made by Modi are far reaching and in my opinion would be counter productive for India. On the surface, it seems that Modi's comments after days of silence are going to backfire on India.

In his statements Modi has accepted;

1- China didn't intrude in to Indian's land, that means China has committed no offences against India.

2- That the land China has occupied recently is Chinese land to which China has all the rights.

3- Indian troops approached that area in the cover of the darkness with evil designs. In other words they were intruders to legitimate Chinese land.

4- Chinese had every right to attack the intruding Indians and vacate their land by application of force.

Modi has buckled under pressure. He is rattled and doesn't know what to say and do.

Excellent analysis.

India has accepted the defeat & surrendered to China at the highest level.

Here is the course of the event according to China's FM

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian's Regular Press Conference on June 19, 2020

After the press conference, the following question was raised: can you give us a step-by-step account of the Galwan clash? What is China's position on settling this incident?

Zhao Lijian: The Galwan Valley is located on the Chinese side of the Line of Actual Control in the west section of the China-India boundary. For many years, the Chinese border troops have been patrolling and on duty in this region. Since April this year, the Indian border troops have unilaterally and continuously built roads, bridges and other facilities at the LAC in the Galwan Valley. China has lodged representations and protests on multiple occasions but India has gone even further to cross the LAC and make provocations. By the early morning of May 6, the Indian border troops, who have crossed the LAC by night and trespassed into China's territory, have built fortification and barricades, which impeded the patrol of Chinese border troops They deliberately made provocations in an attempt to unilaterally change the status quo of control and management. The Chinese border troops have been forced to take necessary measures to respond to the situation on the ground and strengthen management and control in the border areas.

In order to ease the situation, China and India have stayed in close communication through military and diplomatic channels. In response to the strong demand of the Chinese side, India agreed to withdraw the personnel who crossed the LAC and demolish the facilities, and so they did. On June 6, the border troops of both countries held a commander-level meeting and reached consensus on easing the situation. The Indian side promised that they would not cross the estuary of the Galwan river to patrol and build facilities and the two sides would discuss and decide phased withdrawal of troops through the meetings between commanders on the ground.

Shockingly, on the evening of June 15, India's front-line troops, in violation of the agreement reached at the commander-level meeting, once again crossed the Line of Actual Control for deliberate provocation when the situation in the Galwan Valley was already easing, and even violently attacked the Chinese officers and soldiers who went there for negotiation, thus triggering fierce physical conflicts and causing casualties. The adventurous acts of the Indian army have seriously undermined the stability of the border areas, threatened the lives of Chinese personnel, violated the agreements reached between the two countries on the border issue, and breached the basic norms governing international relations. China has lodged solemn representations and strong protests to the Indian side.

During State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi's phone conversation with External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, he repeated China's stern position, demanding India to carry out a thorough investigation into the incident, severely punish those who should be held accountable, strictly discipline Indian frontline troops, and immediately stop all provocative actions so as to ensure that such incidents do not happen again. A second commander-level meeting should happen as soon as possible to deal with the situation on the ground. The two sides agreed to handle in a just manner the serious situation caused by the Galwan Valley clash, observe the agreement reached during the commander-level meeting, cool down the situation on the ground as soon as possible, and uphold peace and tranquility of the border areas in accordance with bilateral agreements reached so far.

China hopes that India will work with us, follow faithfully the important consensus reached between the two leaders, abide by the agreements reach between the two governments, and strengthen communication and coordination on properly managing the current situation through diplomatic and military channels, and jointly uphold peace and stability in the border areas.

AFP: ... The second issue is about media reports saying that China has freed Indian soldiers seized in the recent border clash. Can China confirm this?

Zhao Lijian: ... On your second question, my information is that at present there are no Indian personnel detained on the Chinese side.

We should extend the implications of the statements made by Modi to wider areas illegally occupied by India.

1- Whole of Kashmir would fall under this premise now. Like China has claims to Aksai Chin legitimately, including the Galwan Valley, similarly Pakistan can have legitimate claims over the Jammu and Kashmir.

2- It is not Indian land, it is just an illegal occupier, which could be evicted by use of force.

3- Similarly Nepal can now claim same for their 3 disputed areas. They can occupy it and still wouldn't be intruder to the Indian land.

4- Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and other disputed areas all are fair game now. It is not Indian's land. And anyone occupation of these areas is fair game.

5- Today Modi has buried Indian claim of "Attotanag" forever.

.
The Indians have started to react to strange Modi's comments. Modi in his efforts to display power and control had rubbed millions of Indians the wrong way. Pity is that many TV anchors yesterday in support of PM Modi were claiming that China has no Indian PoWs, while attacking Rahul Gandhi's statements. Today after release of further 10 Indian PoWs have eggs on their faces.

Indians comments:

1- Brahma Chellaney, a defence analyst with the New Delhi-based Centre for Policy Research, said Chinese troops through their aggression have halted India’s patrolling.

“Does Modi’s statement signal India is willing to live with China’s forcible change of the status quo in the Galwan Valley and at Lake Pangong? By occupying unoccupied areas, China has put a halt to India’s patrolling of those areas and built positions overlooking Indian defences," Chellaney asked.

2- Abhishek Singhvi, national spokesperson for the Congress, said that he feared Modi cleared China of any wrongdoing. “Genuinely worried at PM’s certificate that China has not crossed LAC! Hopefully not premature? Should not match China’s stand which says same thing! If such a serious skirmish with huge loss of Indian (and possibly Chinese) casualties, how can there be no transgression by China?" Singhvi said on Twitter late Friday night.

3- Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) parliamentarian Manoj Jha said: “I would like to believe PM Modi but I also want to know why were our soldiers martyred in such a barbaric manner? We stand with our forces and the government but we will continue to ask questions."

It's not Indian territory, so no one laughs at India. On the contrary, I think the Indian army set up a fortification on the border in April, invaded in May, and China kept restraint and did not open fire. Later, the two sides held peace talks, and then Indian soldiers ventured into China again. China sent a translator, who was beaten by India and later turned into a group beating.

In fact, if other countries find any entrants, they will fight back first. Chinese culture has been negotiating, negotiating and reached the end of forbearance then counterattack. I don't like this culture very much.

囧 忍无可忍在反击。 英文怎么说??

It all varies in degree, but not in kind...

A clarion call from Jinnah with a "Direct Action Day", and the Congress Leadership accepted
Pak...

Stay strong and determined for Kashmir....

. .
This is all India's fault for not trying to solve the root cause which is the border.
Because of India, nothing will happen. 50, 100 years from now it will still not be solve. Just like the Kashmir problem. Just like the Bhutan problem.

I blame it all on India.
