Except Japan, it is not that much easy.

Its not "easy" in a sense that it can't be done over-night...but say if other countries I listed above seriously decide to develop an ICBM and deem it necessary for their survival...ALL of them can do it within next 5 to 10 years. Simple as that..

I don't see why we need a 10000km BM right now. Maybe 20-30 years from now, but now it'll only put the west on edge.

He didn't say we will have it in near future but we have the capability. Its a good think as no one knows how geo politics will change in next 10 years.

That's Like buying unnecessary tension. We will do the right think if the need arise not unnecessarily when there is no need.

I suppose you cannot drive this thing around in significant portions of India. And it will be difficult to hide (trainbased versions would make more sense?). However, while a silo-based version would make sense from a support and protection pov, it is inherently more vulnerable because locations will eventually be known.

This is NOT the definitive TEL for this Missile. That is a work in progress along side the canisterisation of Missiles. Rail-based launchers are already designed. Hardened Silos will also be used with Mobile Launchers. Both will have a mix of actual and dummy launchers incorporated within them.

Well we will never be sure what is in a canister or a silo. That is part of the game.

well the people concerned would know ...we don't have to. what i am saying is that since hardened silos are supposed to be secured against even nuclear attack and since they cost mighty to build and maintain - then there is no need to waste the missile 'bunker' space by keeping dummy there
...mobile launchers yes ...but hardened silos ...i do not see the point .

In the US, they are divided into four classes: Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles or ICBM (over 5,500 km), Intermediate-Range Ballistic Missile or IRBM (3,000 to 5,500 km), Medium-Range Ballistic Missile or MRBM (1,000 to 3,000 km) and Short-Range Ballistic Missile or SRBM (up to 1,000 km).

The Russian system, on the other hand, classifies them as strategic (over 1,000 km), Operational-Strategic (500-1,000 km), Operational (300-500 km), Operational-Tactical (50-300 km) and Tactical (up to 50 km).

Till now, the US, Russia, China, UK, France and Israel were the only countries with ICBM technology. Although Agni-V is a little short of the American definition, with its successful launch India has joined this elite club.
