‘India can defend its satellites'

The low orbiting satellite moves in elliptical orbit.so ASAT systems are designed to knock down a satellite when it is closest to earth (i.e perigee).

But what about the geosync. satellites which orbit in circular pattern at an altitude of 36000 km??
can a missile reach that height if it reaches the GTO .

As of now Geostationary satellites are safe from ASAT. But I think US has capabilities to destroy them or make them unusable by other means.

when humans travel at Mach 7,won't it pull high pressure and does it stop our blood from flowing some thing like that...
even fighter jets wont go mach 4

the space shuttle's max speed is abt Mach 22.even astronauts are fine within it.

There is a huge difference between acceleration and velocity buddy. Going by your logic Neil Armstrong should never have survived his flight to the moon.

Ground simulation's can never produce the desired results, that can be faulty, they have to test a weapon in real to determine its capability, something india will never do.

They didn't say that India will never do but only in appropriate time.

to shoot down a satellite you just need the capability to launch a satellite and that will suffice.
An anti satellite weapon is just something designed to intercept a satellite in orbit and as Arthur C Clarke once said the easiest way to shoot down a satellite is to launch into an opposite orbit a bucket of nails... if it misses the first time around that is no problem because every 45 minutes or so they will come around for a second chance and the slowly spreading cloud of nails will eventually hit its target. Orbital speed is something like 10km per second so the closing speed will be easily sufficient for nails to be very destructive against any satellite. A small flake of paint weighing a fraction of a gramme would penetrate the skin of most spacecraft at such speeds. A 10 gramme nail would be almost impossible to stop as the armour thickness needed would be too heavy to get into orbit.

So in another word, India current has no such capability. The appropriate time is when India acquires the capability

India will not indulge in any such 'adventure' until we get well entagled in the global economy machine where it will be the world's loss to impose sanctions on us -- a bit like China is like today.

After that our actions will at most be met with few verbal denouncements from the duty-bound foreign ministers with no substantial action on the ground.

V K Saraswat on record had declared that India had all the required blocks for a ASAT weapon.

If one have a quality ABM shield(which we have) moreover the pin point accuracy to place 10 satellites in the very 1st attempt(require pin point accuracy, just like i said earlier),developing ASAT is not some trouble game,we already have the launcher system's which can be used as ASAT's,all we need is to officially undertake a test, which the Indian political circle is not ready due to some obligation's.

I know all this is falling in some deaf ears, because I am talking to a kind who r not interested in hearing(hearing other than China).

Frankly if that is the case then we have to wait atlest for a good 1 decade(atleast).

I dont think india has the ability in this technology since they haven't test the anti satelite technology.

You kind of have to read between the lines.

He said the engine for the missile had undergone a test of 20-second duration on the ground and had performed "reasonably well"

Why do you think so? Its is nothing like that!!! India can test ASAT anytime and no one can do anything or new sanctions. If India tests ASAT tomorrow, what signal will it give to rest of the world? Even US had to make a drama of non-functionality of a military satellite and its danger to human life. China wanted to do it in secret but thanks to NORAD, they couldn't and violate basic international understanding like Outer Space Treaty which signed by both China and India. If we test an ASAT this will spread another few thousands of satellite debris particles in the space. But India has a long standing policy of supporting peaceful use of outer space. So the ASATs should be ready for only when they are needed. Its nothing about sanction or anything else. India is already under sanction for last twelve years since Pokhran test but did that blocked our space and nuclear programmes? NO.
