India becomes World's Third Largest Electricity Producer overtaking Japan

Then India collectively is not even remotely close to power surplus. As I said, we export not because we are power surplus but simply because we haven't developed our high tech industries to earn foreign exchange and therefore are forced to sell what we should be giving our own people.
Hmm...hope we do it fast.

Ghar me inverter laga lo na :coffee:

Inverter hain. Lekin geyser, A/c nahi chalte.

Tell me something;

Why does your government import coal from Australia? I mean in our case we have impossible corruption as the reason so as not to harness these reserves despite sitting on the 4th largest coal blocks on earth.

But why you guys don't? Your government is much more efficient than our previous governments right?

Because coal is bad PR. I'm sure you've heard of all the coal mining accidents and the pollution problems.

That's why we made such a massive gas deal with Russia recently, burning gas causes much less pollution than burning coal, and allows domestic coal mines to be closed. Importing gas/coal from overseas also allows coal mines to be closed.

We also have a lot of oil, but we still import it from overseas. Firstly domestic production is not high enough, secondly we don't want to use up our own natural oil reserves, which might later be strategically important. So we import it from overseas.

Coal mines were necessary for our earlier stage of development, now we have other options to diversify towards. Though no doubt coal will always be important to us, in the mid-term for power generation, and even in the far future it will be a reliable fallback option in times of strategic necessity.

This is not a SUITABLE MEASURE........Per Capita Electricity Generation.....Anyone?

It should be, per Capita energy consumption, and per capita resources spent on energy. Keeping in mind, we should also reduce cost of energy, and making them further affordable for middle class/lower income group. And this reduction in cost should be done with innovation, not by Kejriwal method of putting subsidies.

Dude, our "baboos" can never ever work out the correct demand. Trust you me. So the idea of 2022....... well....... let's see........

No not at all! but it will be by the year 2022 even if we progress at the current pace :coffee:

You should be more concerned about #36! India in the last decade has more than doubled its energy production - says much of our plans to bridge up the same in the years to come. :coffee:

There are ways to look at the situation!
Am I happy that Pakistan consumes half the electricity per capita than India
OR
India consumes just 25% of what the China does..

But it is getting closer . Why you jelly jelly gum gum ?

We were able to expand our production more than 2x under the pathetic leadership of UPA government in the last 10 years - Modi can do wonders just like he did in Gujarat - It was under his leadership only when Gujarat became surplus in power production and rolled out India's first modernized electrical grid, or the smart grid as a result it transformed into a manufacturing hub!

Gujarat to get country’s first smart grid - The Times of India
Gujarat emerging as manufacturing hub: Assocham - The Times of India

The current governments focus is more on "Transmission" than on "Production". The thing I like the most

And I am happy that we are expanding at an ever increasing rate! more than 2x in the last 10 years!

. . .
This is bound to happen, the focus in India is on generating more power and governments is making serious attempts. This is going to increase since many new projects will start delivering.
