India approves caste-based census

Hope this exercise helps in benifiting the real needy people who are economically backward and not just backward in terms of caste. This looks like a good move to atleast induct the system, the benfits would emerge in the future census which are due in every 10yrs.

Caste is the fu***g dirty reality of India and Caste base reservation is a dirty policy of Indian democracy...
Well, i just want to say, being a person that belongs to a general caste in India..I have seen this politics since my scchool days..

we, the pupils had to purchase an entrance or application form at a price of 1500 bucks despite of belonging to a middle class family, while we had seen guys belonged to so called reserved catagories..coming out of luxury cars and purchasing the same application form for just 250 rs.
well, the real deserving candidates are those who are still very far from getting basic neccesities..

Why India is not doing away with this plagued cast system instead of legalising it by resorting to census based on casts.

How it is going to help the low cast hindus ?? Dont you think the cast based census is going to single out these lower casts for further discrimination

Jana tell me one thing, you do have a surname?

In Hindus the surname is more than just the name attached with father or his family, it has history going back to civilization, when the Aryans came and settled at Indus river(Now Pakistan). They divided the society into 4 parts, the Khatryia, Pandit, Vaish and Others,( those working as tradesmen etc.). Till date there are these 4 major Surnames(Castes). So when census takes place and they will not leave by just asking the first name, they will also ask the Surname...True isn't it???
But what should be done is, now with changing times as all are equal so the division done earlier should be just a historical fact. We should stop taking pride in the fact that we are warriors or religious Scholars or businessmen. Also I would want to abolish this marriage with in caste thing, if two people like each other and the families think they are good, then just let them marry.

So caste is our trademark and would be with us for ever, it shows our purity of lineage.
