India approves $750 million infrastructure loan for Bangladesh

Nice to see India helping BD..we need a close relation with Bangladesh since we both are culturally same

.
If Pakistan and India were allies too, India could also give $1000million loan to Pakistan as well, which is vital for the public and normal citizens.

I think India should engage in looking after their own infrastructure which is vital for the public and normal citizens. Shouldnt charity start at home? Does India have perfect infrastructure/ Does it have no poverty? Does it have no starving children or corrupt leaders like us? Comments of this nature dont help so stop trolling

.
India is helping countries like Bangladesh and SL, India is a stronger and more strong economy state, while India may have better infrastructure, its better to give loans (not donations) to our neighbours, so that we can grow strong together, then alone.

Indians getting all heated up over what I said.

But if they think clearly with an empty mind, isn't it a little strange? Just a little? That India gives out loans while domestically people's living standards are not up to the mark.

If I were Indian, I would've protested this, what do the other Indians on the thread have to say about it?

$750 million is not a big amount. Now, you will say why we spending some 100 Billion $ for defence moderation in next few years?

We are spending enough money to decrease poverty and improve the infrastructure. There is something called Allocation as per need. Things are improving year by year. If corruption will decrease, More improvement will come.

So, Relax.....India GDP is 1.7 trillion $ and even with 8% growth we will do fine. :)

Brother if i had a solution and a majic wand i would have already used it. I suppose if we were to sit round a table and reduce arms we could spend those resources on reducing poverty.
By giving a loan out to Bangladesh do you think its a good idea? What happens if they struggleto make payments back?

India is giving Bangladesh a loan (which includes interest and capital back) and not a donation, in whcih you clearly dont no.

India has $335,775million in its foreign exchange reserves, so think twice before you post next time. India can loan out $1500 million to Bangladesh if they wanted too, proving they can pay it back

Loans and aid are not given because poverty or corruption does not exist in our nation,it is merely a gesture of goodwill,an attempt to forge closer ties, has anybody even questioned US why it splurge to much providing billion's in loan and aid when it is itself sitting on a mountain of debt and massive unemployment, probably not?

In this case may be Bngladesh may work fine even without Indian help as many Bangladeshis argue, but since their govt is not rejecting it can be seen as a reason of need.

Wow, so many deleted posts so fast! lolz...

Some guys take things too personally. No doubt, India is seriously investing a LOT in AL-ruled BD :P

I just hope things don't turn for the worst due to greed and stupidity!

That still doesn't answer Jihad's question.

My question is: Why is India investing so much in Bangladesh?

I completely understand the context in which these loans are given.
I think the allocation of resources directed to combat poverty in India for example are too low for such a huge population.
The same goes for my own country, i'm not fond of how our own government tackles poverty, I think much more funds/resources could be headed towards the people who need it most.

It, however does not fare well with the public opinion if people read this news.
Perhaps it adds to Indian chauvinism when they read these kinds of news articles, but for some including myself, it adds questionmarks.

Perhaps some of you might feel that their ego is hurt, but if I were Indian and I were to go outside and check out the slums and people living in such dire circumstances, I would be furious if I were to read that my government had "allocated" funds towards another country.

Doesn't matter if they get it back with interest rates, the funds could also be directly invested in India's own household.

I mean, the dutch government gives out donations to India, I can confirm that, so when I read that India on its turn hands out "loans" to Bangladesh, i'm a little confused.

Don't forget, you guys have a 1.3+ billion population, you yourself as an individual might have a good life, but not everyone around you has, and not everyone like you will be sharing the same opinion that this loan is a step in the right direction.

I've always been in favor of getting your own sh-t together first, and afterwards when you have the ability, you exert your influence and co-operation throughout the region.

Perhaps a joint venture of the GoI and Bangladeshi government in certain projects would've been more suitable, or Indian private firms investing in Bangladesh.

But to see the GoI handing out a loan directly to Bangladesh is..funny.

Ofcourse there is more going on behind the scenes, and these loans are also given out with a purpose, but still, my point still stands that Indian people need these "loans" much more, and i'm 100% sure millions of other Indians will agree with me on this.

.
Question is: Will the money be used for the intended purposes? :P

You do realize that this so called loan comes with higher interest rate than world bank and BD must use Indian raw material and expertise to spend the money. So basically this money will stay in India.

What is missing from this picture. :undecided:

My question is: Why is India investing so much in Bangladesh?

Same reasons, why China is giving out loans to India I say, for buisness term is one of them. And buying a nation support, well poltically anyway.

And mainly, because we can afford to do it, here comes the haters now. lol

Im leaving this thread now anyway, due to this turning out to be a sling competiton thread and 1-2 other problems.

India is not investing lots of money. It's even not investing but giving loan. We gave to SL also. Bhutan, Nepal, Africa and many more. Also, There is one more reason which i don't want to say. ;)

India is going to Buy 250 PAK FA/FGFA and 200 Rafale/Typhoon with 55 billion $ = 55,000 Million $.

I think, few people are posting by thinking of it's own economy. :)

If your ego is hurt, feel free to leave.

I was questioning the context in which these loans are given, and also why alot of parts in India are miles behind the rest of the civilised world, and your government tries and be a 2nd "Uncle Sam" in the region.

Doesn't make sense, mending ties or improving relations can be done in other ways aswell where both countries could really benefit or only BD could benefit if India was serious about improving its image.

Also, forgive me for thinking in favor of Indian people :disagree:, especially the ones who don't live in England and don't have acces to all the luxuries like you do.. :undecided:
