Pretty sure the report means India's defence budget in 2045 will be equivalent to the EU's defence expenditure in 2045 not in 2014- that would be a pointless observation and considering India will be spending around $100BN/year on defence by 2022-5 only spending 300BN 20 years later seems unlikely.

Even if we have a strong single-party leadership of the Sangh nationalists and India develops into a powerful economy-military complex, we will simply not intervene in other countries unless requested by the leading governments to.

Our friction with China is our personal matter and no amount of weapon imports from the West will make us any more powerful than we already are. Why? Because we will not be self-reliant. However, looking at the galvanizing new steps taken by the MOD and the new government, there can be some momentum expected in the beginning of indigenization of weapons industries.

Neither China nor India wants to take away the title of "Global policeman" from America. So they can rest easy, Asian nations will look to our own defensive needs, no one apart from America seeks to be the Global policeman.
